Not worth it and doesnt taste good at all!!

Starting off with the food quality all i have to say is it's terrible. The food was really tasteless and the vegetables had a weird taste to them. This restaurant is way over priced compared to other sushi places. Simple rolls are 5-6$ And aren't even good. The service was really bad also. Our waiter didnt say a word to us. Barely responded to us and seemed really rude. Overall dont go its horrible food with horrible service.

    Frozen Fish

There are those who say they love coffee, yet they adulterate it with gobs of sugar and copious amounts of milk. As far as I'm concerned, this type of person could be drinking mud and they wouldn't know any better. When it comes to sushi, or rather sashimi, raw fish, I taste it first, and if it is fresh, no wasabi, no soy sauce goes on it. And so, for me, there is no California roll or Avocado anything (ok, maybe I'll steal a piece or two from a neighboring plate, but don't tell anyone). Sashimi is where you know where a restaurant stands with their product. Do this often, and, with time, you will instantly tell if your fish has been frozen or is not up to par. Well my friends, this fish was so bland and off texture that I knew that it had been frozen (fresh fish has a certain sweetness and texture). After numerous pieces, I admitted defeat and on went the soy sauce and wasabi. The service was good and the ambiance, not bad. So if you're a "Light and sweet" coffee person, or the "jar of barbecue sauce on a steak" type of guy, or are into the latest flavored beer, this is the place for you.

    hidden gem

This place is amazing. The sashimi cannot be any more fresh and they have many creative and delicious dishes. I highly recommend the baked oysters and the lobster salad, I get both every time I go there. Working in midtown Manhattan, I've been to all the named Japanese restaurants and Fontana is just as good or is even better than some of those more expensive restaurants. The atmosphere is alright, it's cozy, and the service is not amazing but it's definitely not horrible. I'd go back again and again for the food.

    Avoid at all cost

I was with a party of 5 on a friday night 7:45pm, got seated fairly quickly because they weren't busy. We all ordered the all you can eat. It took about 30 mins for our first order to arrive. It was half of what we ordered since they "lost" half of the order. It was 30 mins later when we flagged down a waiter, who gave us a stone cold apology. By this time it was 9pm and we were starving. They obviously limit the all you can eat customers so they can make the most profit. We made the best of this nightmare, ate our last order, paid (they add a mandatory $20 tip on the bill), ran out of there and promise never to come back. No wonder they weren't busy on a friday night.
