hidden gem
This place is amazing. The sashimi cannot be any more fresh and they have many creative and delicious dishes. I highly recommend the baked oysters and the lobster salad, I get both every time I go there. Working in midtown Manhattan, I've been to all the named Japanese restaurants and Fontana is just as good or is even better than some of those more expensive restaurants. The atmosphere is alright, it's cozy, and the service is not amazing but it's definitely not horrible. I'd go back again and again for the food.

Avoid at all cost
I was with a party of 5 on a friday night 7:45pm, got seated fairly quickly because they weren't busy. We all ordered the all you can eat. It took about 30 mins for our first order to arrive. It was half of what we ordered since they "lost" half of the order. It was 30 mins later when we flagged down a waiter, who gave us a stone cold apology. By this time it was 9pm and we were starving. They obviously limit the all you can eat customers so they can make the most profit. We made the best of this nightmare, ate our last order, paid (they add a mandatory $20 tip on the bill), ran out of there and promise never to come back. No wonder they weren't busy on a friday night.
