Birthday and Mole!
We went there on Sunday to celebrate my mother's birthday and were treated so well! The staff was considerate, friendly, and knowledgeable. When they brought out the dessert with a candle, all the lights flashed and happy birthday played over the speakers. It ensured that everyone in the restaurant was involved in the celebration. Also, the special of the evening included a dish with mole negro. It was SUPERB! I am still talking about it and can't wait to get back to Fonda in the hopes of having it again.

Best Mexican in NYC
Fonda has only been open a couple of weeks - I eagerly watched it take shape since I live right in the neighborhood. I must have stuck my head through the open door about 20 times to ask when they would be opening and have been 4 times already. The place is humming like one that's been open for a year. The variety and flavor of the food tops any other Mexican restaurant in the city and I've been to many. This is food like what you get in Mexico with no dumbing down (OK, there is a burger) for Americans. Hope it's so successful that you get one in your neighborhood too...
