this place is fantastic. one of the best restaurants in the slope. and i am one picky eater. it is on the pricey side but its worth it.

I've been here twice now for dinner. They definitely pack the room so they must be doing something right. The first time we came, the taco appetizers were yum but my other app was not so great. Marco Pollo entree was excellent other entree not so great. So what I'm saying here is they are hit or miss. Last night there were 4 of us. Dad's pork entree was delish but came to the table cold. I ordered shrimp on top of "creamy" green rice. I expected something along the lines of a risotto, but there was nothing creamy about the rice. It was just the same sort of rice you get in any mexican restaurant but green. Shrimp was overcooked and the whole dish could have been warmer. 2 of us got this dish and we agreed that it was OK but nothing special. Hubby's dish was good but it was basically a skillet of melted cheese and some chicken, can't really go wrong with a pile of gooey cheese. Oh and the guacamole app, something was missing, salt, citrus, something to bring out the natural goodness of the avocado. Unfortunately, don't think I'll be heading back any time soon.

i can't even count how many mexican restaurants i've eaten at, and i'd count fonda as one of my favorites. delicious menu with some inventive twists. a great place for dinner and an even better brunch. my only complaint is that they're closed on mondays

Been to Fonda numerous times for brunch and dinner and have ha a great experience each time. The food is great and the staff is extremely friendly!

I have been to Fondas twice. The food is always great but the amount of time you spend waiting ruins the experience. My husband and I waited at least 15 minutes after being seated before being acknowledged. People who had been seated after us were having their orders taken and we didn't even have water yet. Once our order was taken we waited another 20 minutes before we received our drinks. Our food arrived and it was fabulous so I began to forget about my aggrevation. After clearing our table the bus boy asked if we'd like to see a dessert menu, we said yes. That was the last time we saw him. Our waiter was even harder to find. No dessert for us so we decided on getting the check. After sitting around another half hour with nothing on our table we finally were able to get the check from the host. The funny thing was before we were able to even close the bill fold the waiter miraculously appeared to swipe it away! And then we waited another 15 minutes to get it back! These people are nice but they need to work on their systems because the food is just not worth the aggrevation! They always seem busy so I don't understand how the don't know how to handle a crowd.

I had been to Fonda a few times in the past when I tried to have an early dinner there recently. I was told there was a 45 minute wait and that I should go across the street and wait for a call on my cell phone. I was prepared to spend a great deal of money on dinner and cocktails with a friend. 75 minutes later, with no call, I decided to go back to Fonda in hopes that my table would be available soon. I discovered that they had been seating walk-ins without calling me for at least 30 minutes. When confronted, Fonda's host and hostess did not offer an apology. They said they were not responsible for how things got when they were "busy." When faced with an egregious error, I have never seen a restaurant staff behave as brazenly rude as Fonda's. The food at this place is good and the space is obviously well-tended. Perhaps the owner does not pay enough to attract top-level staff, or perhaps the employees are not well-trained enough to know how to deal politely with customers. Regardless, there is a major problem here that I can only hope will be addressed soon.

I felt ill for 2 days after a Sunday brunch here. My food was almost and it was my mistake to eat it. That said, all of my fellow diners were ok although none of them raved about their food.
