    sports bar? -must be kidding!

Read online this was a good place to catch a hockey game... Umm No Way. First off, the tv's while typical flat screens are adequate, the feed is appears to be non HD. The tv's aren't crisp at all. I went in mid day Friday after Thanksgiving to watch hockey at this "Penquins" bar.(3 people incl me) at the long bar. Asked if I could have them change the game from a tiny tv loged in the corner to the one in front of me. I was promptly told no. Huh? Its 1pm the place is empty and other than some crap ESPN2 bad college football game nothing is on yet but Bruins- Detroit. The experience was compounded by a completely skunked Smithwicks draft beer. I walked a block to Stout, where I should have gone in the first place.

    Liked it and will return

My boyfriend and I ended up at Foley's between lunch and dinner. We had our pick of tables, and the waitress made sure we could watch our pick of game on one of the tvs. To be honest, I had low expectations of the food, assuming that this would be another tourist trap restaurant (it's close to Macy's). I was very pleasantly surprised when a super-juicy burger, cooked just right was presented to me, along with some delicious fresh french fries. I don't get to that part of town much, but when I do, I would be happy to eat there again and will recommend Foley's. Our waitress was lovely and her service was just right.

Great place to meet before a game at MSG

Foley's has everything you'd look for in an Irish bar: friendly service, Irish accents, great Guinness, and tasty, well-priced pub grub. If you are a sports fan, it is like having a beer inside a sports museum. There are countless autographed balls, bobbleheads, jerseys, etc. A fun place near MSG and literally across the street from the Empire State Building. Yeungs & Wings were a great value. They serve excellent burgers and a zesty buffalo chicken sandwich named for David Wright. Lots of great beers on tap. They pour a great Guinness. (What else would you expect from a place called Foley's?)

    Kvetch of the Day

fish and chips/fish look fine, but batter was soggy, fries were crisp, but turned soggy, had to be the a/c going... date had salmon bruschetta, and was pleased. would I go back? no. Waitress & busboy all did their jobs perfectly. Perfect for game days....:)

    It's a Sports Bar

Great place for drinking and eating BAR FOOD. Lots of sports memorabilia. If you want fine dining, go somewhere else, but this is the place to meet b4 games at MSG with your buddies.

    Great on a rainy day

My fiance and myself were visiting New york and this particlar day it was chucking it down, we booked our tickets for the next day for the empire state and came out right opposite Foleys. I was dying for a pint and we were hungry and for it to look like an english pub was enough to call us in.Inside the whole place is covered with memorabilia from baseballs to football shirts everywhere, i even saw a shirt from my local football club in england, it was great about 6pm we got in there and didnt leave till 7:30. Good food we had the combo of chicken, skins etc.. washed down with beer. As we will be definately coming back to New York City and how easy it is to find Foleys this will be our regular, keep up the good work.
