Great place to meet before a game at MSG
Foley's has everything you'd look for in an Irish bar: friendly service, Irish accents, great Guinness, and tasty, well-priced pub grub. If you are a sports fan, it is like having a beer inside a sports museum. There are countless autographed balls, bobbleheads, jerseys, etc. A fun place near MSG and literally across the street from the Empire State Building. Yeungs & Wings were a great value. They serve excellent burgers and a zesty buffalo chicken sandwich named for David Wright. Lots of great beers on tap. They pour a great Guinness. (What else would you expect from a place called Foley's?)

Kvetch of the Day
fish and chips/fish look fine, but batter was soggy, fries were crisp, but turned soggy, had to be the a/c going... date had salmon bruschetta, and was pleased. would I go back? no. Waitress & busboy all did their jobs perfectly. Perfect for game days....:)

It's a Sports Bar
Great place for drinking and eating BAR FOOD. Lots of sports memorabilia. If you want fine dining, go somewhere else, but this is the place to meet b4 games at MSG with your buddies.

Great on a rainy day
My fiance and myself were visiting New york and this particlar day it was chucking it down, we booked our tickets for the next day for the empire state and came out right opposite Foleys. I was dying for a pint and we were hungry and for it to look like an english pub was enough to call us in.Inside the whole place is covered with memorabilia from baseballs to football shirts everywhere, i even saw a shirt from my local football club in england, it was great about 6pm we got in there and didnt leave till 7:30. Good food we had the combo of chicken, skins etc.. washed down with beer. As we will be definately coming back to New York City and how easy it is to find Foleys this will be our regular, keep up the good work.

Nice decor, great food at a good value
First time visitors--found this pub online and are so glad we did. The decor in the place was perfect for a sports trivia person and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was a little slow, but when we needed them, we just got them. We got there a little after 6 pm and had no problem making a 7:30 pm Madison Square Garden event--including the walk over (pretty short). We liked it so well, ate there twice. First night, husband got the hamburger & fries. I ordered grilled salmon in western sauce, roasted potatoes and fresh steamed asparagus. Second night I tried the burger but substituted a nice, green, & fresh salad for the fries. My husband got the French cut chicken, roasted potates and steamed broccoli. We also tried and enjoyed dessert: apple pie with ice cream and cheesecake. If I ever make a trip back to NYC, I plan on eating here again!

Slow service, okay food
I went to eat here based on postings about the great food and friendly service.....what I experienced was the opposite. I am not a picky NYer by any means but this place was not great. Yes, lots of sports memorabila and there is a very nice older gentlemen who makes sure he seats you as soon as you come in. That's the upside. Service was slow to NON -EXISTENT. I was not the only person experiencing this problem, since I overhead other complaints. One couple next to me - who had tix to a concert at the Garden - left a full drink and 1/2 their food because it took so long to get served they were running late for the show. I asked about desert, waited ten minutes for the menu and then gave up because the waitress never came back for the order. I finally had to find her at the bar to ask for the check (which another customer had to do as well).....never dawned on her to ask why we did not order desert (lost sales opportunity). I had the fish and chips - heavy on the greasy batter and light on the fish. Would not recommend this place for a meal.
