Harlem's Floridita Restaurant

I went here entirely because I was in the mood for Cuban food and none of my friends knew anything about Cuban cuisine so I thought I would introduce them, and all I have to say is WOW! Our service was very slow but it didnt really bother us because we got plenty of time to wallow in our post-meal splendor. I ordered th Carne Guisada (a traditional cuban beef stew) and it was probably the best Ive ever had it. A friend of mine had the Ropa Vieja which was also outstanding. I suggest the Pork Chop as well. If you want something lighter the Cuban Tamales off of their specials menu are great. Im a college student and Im excited to know that I can find affordable and authentic Cuban food not to far from campus. I will definately be back very soon.

First of all, it doesn't make sense to me why this restaurant gets a $$$ rating. Overall, the food is pretty reasonably priced for the SUPER large portions you get. Honestly, my experience has been pretty good with one exception - take out. DO NOT order Cuban Sandwiches for take out. They have some weird take out system and it took them 40 minutes to fill our order because the people who actually take the order aren't the ones who make it, so they have to relay the order to someone else and ultimately, they were just so busy that they forgot, several times, to relay the sandwich order. If, however, you want something from the steam trays sitting in front of them - THEN your order should take no more than 5 minutes because they'll literally make your plate in front of you.

The food is very good and you can't beat it for the price. The food is very tasty and authentic. You won't be dissappointed.

This is a gem of a place. My friends & I go here frequently. There is a very extensive menu with very inexpensive prices. The interior of the restaurant looks like a cheerful spacious diner. The servers and staff are pleasant, but service is laid back (i.e. tends to be slow, but I think it's a cultural "take your time, don't rush, just relax" approach). I haven't tried all thousand items on their menu yet; of the things I've tried, I would recommend the Breakfast Special combos, oatmeal(very smooth), grilled cheese(Queso Tostado, on the their thick bread), cubano sandwich, chicken stew special (Pollo Guisado, comes with rice, beans, plantains), cafe con leche, & milkshakes.

I totally enjoyed the experience. It was stepping into Cuba. The atmosphere felt retro and real. I loved it! The food was a delight and the prices were totally affordable. I could not have asked for more.

This is a must try when your in Harlem. Cheap, tasty and authentic are the key words to this Dominican resturant. Floridita is also a bakery so dont forget to try the desserts. Enjoy!
