After reading all the reviews, I was really looking forward to some phenomenal Mexican food. Alas, this was not the place to get it. The dishes were covered in some velveeta-esque sauce, the appetizers came out cold, and the margaritas tasted like someone had put a dash of tequila in a glass of sugar water. To their credit, the waitress did offer to substitute my drink (stick to the bottled beers).

Went there with friends thinking it was just your average mexican dive but was I totally surprised!! The food is awesome as it is very hard to find decent mexican (Cali style) food in this city!! All other places are into "fusion" mex food but if you are looking for just good "homemade" style mexican food, this is the place!! Also the drinks were very good and the service was excellent! Try the flaming margarita, best in the city!! Owners are very nice, friendly! Felt like I was back home in L.A.!! Will be back soon, with more friends!!

I'm basically obsessed with Southern California ever since my first trip--about two months ago. I love the vibe and food is freaking amazing, man. I'm ditching NYC for So Cal after I graduate---but, everytime I'm feeling blue I bring my ass over to FLORENCIA 13. All is good in the world, again. Kinda pricey....bring your wealthy friends...oh and get drinks..with lots of salt!

Too many tables cluttered the small dining area. The chip sauces were extremely salty, like it was flavored with sea salt. Beans and enchilada sauce were very runny. My water glass remained empty the entire meal -- which is unforgiveable given the salt. The food was nearly as hot as the room temperature. The atmosphere was quaint -- very Dia de los Muertos. The bartender was very friendly, but the waitress was brain dead. The guy that cleared the table was actually the best server. I recommend the managment lose a few tables, open the door to let some fresh air in. It was ranked the best burrito and margarita by some survey, but they really don't know what fresh-prepared food is.

In NY you can find a lot of Dominican, Puerto Rican and other Latin American foods, but for authentic Southern California Mexican cusine this is the spot. If you are of Mexican descent this food will remind you of home. If you are not, this food will take your tastebuds on a great trip. The food is high quality and the recipes are stellar. In addition, the service is great. The owner even sat down with us and shared many stories and laughs. And don't even get me started on the drinks... Every time that I visit New York I will be eating here.

I would certainly recommend this restaurant with its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, not to mention its delightful Pomegranite Margarita, it is a sure thing if you looking for a great meal with friends or lovers.
