Have to totally Disagree with Nas about food being mediocre! The food here is the best and the rice is one of the best I have ever tasted here. Also, I have been coming here for the past two years and they do not charge you for your first basket of Chips and Salsa, only if you want more and isn't 3.00 a bargain?? Most places either do not give you any or charge you! The margaritas are amazing, love the flaming!! Great service, too!! Nice people!

My husband and I have had the pleasure of visiting Florencia 13 and had a fab time! The drinks were very refreshing the food was very authentic! The service is what it's all about too... Can't wait to come back- This will be our hangout when were back in town! Gracias.

I'm from Texas, and I was thoroughly underwhelmed. The food was just not that good. Even the rice and beans were kind of tasteless and gross -- when you mess up something that basic, you know it's bad. And, they charge $3 *per basket* of chips and salsa. Any restaurant that charges for chips and salsa is not authentic Mexican food. So yeah, unimpressed.

Thank God for this place! I have been waiting for some real Mexican food to get to NYC and Florencia 13 is the real deal. The shrimp quesadillas are amazing and the fish tacos are the closest thing the east coast has to baja. The staff is incredible... so nice they always remember your name. The atmosphere is really cool...candle lit with sort of a dia de los muertos meets L.A street art vibe. The place is family run and the owner often comes around to be sure your meal is nothing less then divine...what else can I say? New York just got a little bit sweeter for southern Californians.

Okay the closest to "real" mexican food I've had is from a restaurant in los angeles a friend would take me to when I'd visit. Florencia 13 is the closest to real Mexican food you're going to get to in NYC! They play great music, the decorations will leave you feeling like you're in East L.A. and the staff are super friendly. The place is small and gets crowded quickly, so go early!! I love this place, I've already been there 3 x's in the past month!

I first went here in January and have been here every single weekend since, unless I'm out of town. Yes, you read correctly. In the last 3 months, I've been here around 15-20 times. I am born and bred in SoCal and have lived here for 14 years waiting patiently for the real deal. Good Mexican in Cali is like getting a slice in NYC, not a problem. This place is my Cheers, my Cal-Mex NYC Cheers. SoCal family owned, family operated, awesome. Shrimp flautas, shredded beef tacos, fish tacos, mole chicken enchiladas, burritos--the Santa Monica is really good, tacos al pastor with pineapple, killer flan, real guacamole, pomegranate margarita--not frozen--is awesome. I may sound over the top, but having been basically weaned on Mexican food, from my childhood neighbor's trays of enchiladas to my best buddy's father's tacos, I'm telling you this is the real deal. I'm almost reluctant to do this because I it's already really popular on the weekends, but I love this place. Been to so many places in NYC that may use some Mexican ingredients, and may make something resembling Mexican food, or may make some Mexican-fusion chefly thing, but it's not really Mexican. Florencia 13 is really Mexican. Dynamite.

Being from TX, I love good Mexican (and tex-mex) food! I had not found it in NY until now, this place is DELICIOUS!
