fantastic. a cant miss restaurant
a group of 7 went to this restaurant after not being able to get into son cubano. we didnt realize this is the sister restaurant from son cubano. we all had been to son cubano before and loved it, so we wanted to try flor de sol. and we all felt that flor de sol is the flagship restaurant of the two. it is absolutely wonderful place. amazing atmosphere, and the tapas were about the best we have ever had. its been several months since we went and we still talk about it. highly recommend. espeically for groups that are looking for a great time. definitely take out of towners there too. we are going back soon.....like tomorrow. just made those reservations.

Awesome tapas!
I've been to this place a few times, and each time was great! The restaurant is very pretty, with an outdoor seating area. They have great tapas & their prices are comparable to other places. I recommend the mofongo, croquetas and bacon wrapped scallops. They also make wonderful sangria.

Beware of waiter bringing gifts
Went here for a friend's birthday party. We drank, we ate, we listened to music - all was going well. At the end of the evening the bartender asked the remaining 6 of us if we wanted shots (2 rounds). We were very much under the impression that they were free - as a hospitable gesture of the restaurant. When the bill came we were charged $10 for each shot - an extra $120 on the bill. The manager was completely ungracious and told us that only he could buy shots for customers - didn't offer to take it off the bill. Nada. He said nowhere in the city would buy a round for a table. Hmmm, that doesn't sound correct... We ended up taking the tip off the bill. The place is okay but with that kind of behavior I would never recommend it.

Nothing Authentic About it
Often looks buzzing at the weekends when visitors jam it and the terrace is nice but the food is really average. Authentic tapas can be found elsewhere.

Incredible Tapas in Tribeca
The only thing wrong..the music is too loud, really don't need it that loud gang..BUT..4 of us, two couples, went to this place on Saturday night. Staff, very friendly, the hosts and our waiter. Selections of tapas, many. I had artichokes with spanish ham, excellent. Scallops with papas espanol, one of the specials..really tasty. The atmosphere is romantic, but good for groups, nice little bar you can also sit and have tapas. Recommended by TheLizard, commenting on the group of five that didn't have reservations...Make your reservation for this place on weekends.

"Our" restaurant
This place is amazing. The atmosphere is jaw-dropping because it is all candle-lit. Throw in the live music and it's a place that my girlfriend and I have made "our" restaurant. The chicken croquets are a party in your mouth.

Obnoxious hostess ruined birthday
We had a reservation for a birthday celebration. Two arrived early and ordered $100 champagne plus drinks. We were asked when our complete party would be there and we advised within 10 minutes. On finishing our $150+ of bar drinks we asked for our table - only to be told we no longer had one! Bar staff and waiters were pleasant. As the location is a little remote - we finally got a table by involving the manager - yet most of the group wanted to leave. Small jugs of Sangria are $35 each - needless to say - our entire check was large. Even on leaving - the hostess still had to throw in a curt remark. She totally ruined what could have been a nice dinner.
