if you have the big bucks... go
it's very pricy but the food taste really good not big portion. the paellas are great and the black beans with rice. the flor del sol salad is always fresh and crisp. the sangria taste really good. the dessert are great too. I have try the flan and the turtufo. the services is good and the atmosphere is really cozy. i would recommend this place for a first date it's very quiet but they have nice spanish music which sets the mood. i love this place but when you have the cash.

Great atmosphere, food just ok
Place is gorgeous, music and flamenco dancing is great, but the food and service were just "eh". Despite the place being not that busy, our waiter never once came to ask us how things were, if we needed anything, etc. We had to constantly flag him down while he was too busy leaning on the bar and chit chatting and watching the band. The shrimp ceviche was mushy, kind of creepy. The tres leches cake was awesome though. I would only go back for the entertainment, not for the food.

Great place for Entertainment & Food
Everytime we get visitors from out of town and they want to enjoy the city - our must place to eat is Flor de Sol. Great entertainment and the filet mignon, paella, and tapas. Let's not even get into the delish sangria they make. Definitely not your average sit down and talk place. It's better.

Romantic? Yes. Food? So-So
The atmosphere was great. My boyfriend and i went on a tuesday night around 7pm. It was pretty mellow inside. Not crowded. The live music started at 730. We didnt see any dancers.. just guitar playing. It is very dim inside and the colors are romantic. We ordered 3 tapas and the seafood paella. We had the chick croquettes, the skirt steak and the smoked salmon. I thought it was ok. The steak was almost raw and had fat on it, made me a little grossed out. The croquettes were good but my boyfriend said it tasted like a "mozzerella stick". The salmon was good, but you can probably get it at any deli on a bagel. The seafood paella had nice flavors. The seafood wasnt overwheming..just enough. However, there was no crab meat even though the waiter told us there would be. My boyfriend was not fond of it. He thought it was bland. The champagne sangria was really good. Probably the best thing i had. Overall our bill was $80.. so that is pretty good. I dont think ill return. It was a nice one time thing.

Go early
We had a great meal here recently, but i think my opinion would have been very different had we arrived an hour later. We made reservations for 6 - we're school teachers, it was a weeknight - and the restaurant was mostly empty, our servers were attentive and the food was good (I can't say I know "authentic" tapas, but our meal was tasty - scallops, plantains, a salad, empanadas(a little tough) and the Sangria was great). The atmosphere was beautiful, romantic and it was quiet and cozy. By 7pm, however, it was starting to get crowded and noisy and the tables are packed rather closely together. By 7:30, a big table of businessmen were yelling at each other and it was becoming impossible to talk. Fortunately, we had finished our meal and were able to sit with some coffee to listen and watch the flamenco which kicked in about 7:45 and was great fun. We left at 8:15 when the singer and dance took their break. Almost perfect. Had we started our meal at 7:30, we would not have been able to talk, we would have had other customers jammed in on either side of us and the waiters would have been harried and impatient. Timing is everything.

Tortilla Ain't No Flan
I really love this place but couldn't get any food there last night! I asked for a dessert menu so my daughter could get a slice of cake while I ordered more grownup fare and got the "rolled eyes, swiping everything off the table" routine that says - you're cheap! from the waiter. She orders the cake, they bring the cake and I order the tortilla - my favorite side order to go with their very serviceable Sangria. But they bring me flan and when I tried to return it the waiter said, no, that's a tortilla. Are you kidding? He wouldn't take it away until we were finished. Then he asked me, when I told him it was flan, if I wanted flan. Duh - no. So he begrudgingly took it off the bill and all I got was Sangria. Not a perfect night but the live flamenco dancing is to die for!
