Better food and less expensive
We were only in NYC for the day, visiting cousins who had sublet an apartment for a month long visit. They had found the neighborhood restaurant Flor de Mayo and couldn't wait to take us there for dinner. Having had lunch just a few blocks away at Isabellas, they warned us that this was entirely different. I'll say! The food was better, the service friendlier, and the value!!! Best chicken we've had anywhere, and at a better price than supermarket prepared take-home. We've never had our orders come out of the kitchen as quickly as they did here, perfectly prepared. Even the mixed drinks were good. We will try to get back as soon as we can.

The Perfect Place to Eat
We've been going to Flor de Mayo since we began dating 17 years ago. The food is to die for as is the service. Their signature drink, "The Nutcracker", will have you very happy after the first one!! The food is awesome. Their tostones are always perfect - never greasy. Oh their pork chops are out of this world. The owner, Felipe, is a great host, as are all the waiters. A fun place to bring the family, your friends and co-workers.

Excellent. Buenisimo!!!
I'm a regular at Flor De Mayo at 101st Street & Broadway. I met star actor Roy Schider(From the famous movie "Jaws") and a million other movies he made. Also other Directors and Producers in the restarurant. The food is wonderful and fast service and the Chicken is to die for. I love it. I am having a "Sex and the City" finalle party and ordering out from FLor De Mayo tonight.

90 Block Journey
Yes...I'm the crazy guy who goes 90 plus blocks just to eat chinese when I live near chinatown. But just try the broiled garlic pork chops and round it off with some beef and tomatoe noodles......who knew?

Won Ton and then some
Polloo a la brassa .half a crisp, juicy , super flavorful chicken. Pork chops(I know, just try them) shrimp in garlic sauce, shrimp in devil sauce, and the absolute best won ton soup...the broth can bring you back to life. Gets noisy fast, but who cares, it's a big party, food is excellent, plentiful.

Flor De Mayo or La Caridad?
This is the choice that's puzzled me for years. Both are excellent, and I do have favorite dishes at both, but no one in town beats Flor's 1/2 roasted chicken...yellow rice, black beans (of course). Dining there is a better atmosphere than La Caridad's cafeteria of cantankerous waiters.
