This place is unpretentious and has satisfying food. If I was back in the South, I'd call it soul food. I've tried mainly their Peruvian dishes, and they are excellent. The roast chicken is moist, the cilantro beef is spicy with a very spicy, cilantro flavored curry-like sauce. The service, is fast, friendly, basic. This is not a high-end restaurant, but who wants that when you just want food. I love that I can order side dishes of simple vegetables, and they are simply delicious, and not overcooked. The food can be a little greasy sometimes, but then again, you can order more healthy stuff if you want.

My went to this restuarant with a New Yorker as guests and found this place to be very satisfying. I recommend for anyone who likes Chinese and Peruvian food to try this place. Great prices and superb food quality.

Flor de Mayo, or 101 to some of us, is the pace to be. I don't think that I have tasted anything from their menu and thought that it was unacceptable. Not only is their food great, but their drinks are even better.

The place can be crowded and NOISY. not a place to bring out of towners or anyone you want to bring out for a 'nice' dinner, but great for just you & your roomies if you have nothing in the apt. to eat. they have chinses & spanish! and it's good quality-home cookin'. the ceviche is GREAT they have great yellow rice with meat & a salad platters that just don't go wrong. it's enough to share as well. the plantains come with a neat dipping oil that has LOTS of fresh garlic in it. it's basically trash food made great. great prices. pretty good service, but noisy and a wierd bi-level set up.

The food was nothing great, and the staff even more so. I will not be back . The are better places to spend my time and money.

The chicken is what they're famous for. Order: Roast chicken, yellow rice and black beans, sweet plantains, papas rellenas, banana bedito. There's no more fulsome meal on the Upper West.
