I have been going to Flor since the 80's and let me say, the reason the place is packed most nights and almost every table is littered with 'pollo a la brasa' remains is that, while there are a few other gems on the menu, the chicken by far the best peruvian style chicken in the city. (Be sure to use the sauce!)

Their food is decent, but bland. They make the best fried dumplings and spare ribs, but paying a fortune for them is out of the question. My advice: get some fried dumplings as a snack or entree, and you won't have to sell your first-born to get it.

As a frequent patron of another latin spot in the hood, I decided to branch out and give the roast chicken at Flor De Moyo a shot. A really sad and in my opinion disrespectful show for the customers....bland would be an understatement, as well as questionable in terms of the quality of the produce to begin with. For those who take pride in eating good roast chicken.......this is definately not the place!

I have been going to Flor de Mayo now for over 3 years. It has truly won a special place in my heart and definitely in my stomach. I am of Peruvian descent and I had the distinct pleasure of bringing my family to the restaurant on one of their visits - they absolutely loved it! And if you knew my parents - you'd know that's no small feat. The food is delicious, the service is great (anyone can help you at anytime - there is no set waiter system there) and the prices are absolutely reasonable for the portions you get. A couple favorites of ours that I recommend: Lomo Saltado w/ Chicken, or Tallarin Verde con Pollo, or the Pork Chops, or Pollo ala Brasa (the list goes on and on). So trust me, great place, great food, very sweet people - Go and Treat Yourself - I Promise you'll Love It!!!

I used to order from Flor de Mayo often as a college student. It was a great value for decent (albeit not great) food. Recently, however, I've found that their prices have increased and portions have decreased. For example, a very small bowl of sauteed vegetables were $14! I certainly won't be ordering from here again.

I have been here quite a few times and I never seem to be dissapointed with the quality of the food, service and excellent drinks. This is great place to eat good food without spending as much as you would spent on a fancy restaurant. It is a very neat and clean place and very clean neighborhood. The atmostphere is great, though you will find customers that are pretty loud and very disturbing. Lets just say its more of young crowd for people looking to have a few drinks and food for cheap.

The roast chicken here is the best! Also great value for the money! The rice and beans and platanos are also great. The umbrella drinks are also very festive. I'm not crazy about the Chinese menu choices but the chicken makes this place a great find! I've been going there for years.
