Good food, some cheap portions
Flor de Mayo is a great restaurant for food and service, but be warned: In takeout orders, we got shortchanged in our sweet plantains. Thus the 0 for Value. They claimed that the plantains are not in season in the winter. That makes no sense, since they don't give more plantains or give a discount for the measly portions. That's what a good restaurant would do. I'm seriously considering dropping Flor de Mayo from the list of restaurants we patronize. They have great food, but if they continue with their cheapness, they will pay a price.

AMAZING!
OMG, I love this place so much. It's the perfect balance of great food, cozy ambience, super-fast and attentive waiters and all at a cheap price (in Manhattan, this place is a steal for the quantity of mouth-watering food you get!). I get the polla a la brasa and it takes me and my fiance to finish it. I took my uber-Chinese parents, who look down on asian-fusion places, and my parents adored the place (that's saying a LOT, btw... they are incredibly hard to please). I've been here dozens of times and it's consistently good. The chicken is so moist (you can see them slow-roasting for like, hours in the back window) and the sauce adds the right kick and don't get me started on the plantains. I've tried other stuff on their menu and it's all been very tasty. The alcoholic drinks are also delicious, but I find these to be really overpriced. Water for me!

you gotta know what to eat here
after reading the millions ore reviews about flor de mayo i saw a few that was not good at all and that upsets me. I LOVE the FOOD at FLOR DE MAYO and LOVE is just an understatement. I am i walking talking bill board for them! but like all GREAT restaurants not everything on the menu is amazing(especially with the menu size like this place) Therefore you just have to know what to order! there is a few dishes i SWEAR by and had gotten every single one of my friends hooked on it. If anyone that knows me who is reading this post know they will know who posted this. OK so here we go.. mix seafood cerviche, broiled shrimp with red and white sauce, pasta verde, pollo a la brasa, rib eye steak, and my two top favorites....... squid ink fried rice chinese style and broiled pork chops! also to put some greens in your diet get the black bean string beans or the sautee chinese broccoli. now there are still a few great things there like there black bean sauce or their ropa veija and there is also a few that you can really skip, but i highly recommend the item i deemed my favorites!

Better than Many
Ordered delivery - fast/on time, warm, correct order, tasty and healthy, lady on the phone was informative and helpful. Maybe a tad pricey for portion size.

Amazing chicken
I love the whole chicken they serve here. Dump some of the hot sauce on it and you and you family/friends are set for a meal. the black beans with yellow rice and friend plantains are also some of my favorites. Definitely worth grabbing a bit here or picking up/ordering in if you haven't already
