Say Yes to Flex
After eating here I can safely say that I LOVE mussels. The Acadian and Maine are my favorite but several others are excellent as well. It did take time for the server to bring more bread (for dipping in the mussel sauce...highly recommend!), but once he did, he was on top of it for the rest of the meal. For main courses, I have tried the scallops, the salmon and the fish and chips, all of which I would definitely order again. I would have to say the best part of the meal would have to be the crab cakes. They are incredible. The hostess is sweet and the atmosphere is light and airy, which is a nice change in this dismal weather. While Flex Mussels definitely has a few new restaurant kinks to work out, I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious meal.

Wear something that needs cleaning!
Great looking place, busy and happening. However, the service was not great. Waited forever for the bread. And I left the restaurant smelling like all these spices, that don't wear well. My husband couldn't even stand next to me, and the next day, I opened my closet door and my coat smelled vile.

Lucky Mussels!
Wow, Thank goodness this restaurant has opened. I have been here four or five times since they opened, and it just gets better! The host staff and owners are polite and welcoming. They know the meaning of hospitality, I think they wrote the book. It is the food that keeps me coming back. So far I have tried 8 of the 23 prepairations of mussels. The best... The Thai, the Bombay, and spicey tomato (I forget what it is called) All time favorite...The Fungi, a nice selection of mushrooms in a bacon scented broth. These mussels are lucky, I want to bathe in that broth too The non mussel selection if nice too. yummy scallops, killer fish and chips. I also like the "burnt finger" starter. It is a mix of fried seafood, my only objection is the spicey dipping sauce is too heavy on the saffron. The food is light enough so you can leave room for dessert, which is killer here. The bread pudding with brandy ice cream and apples is just yummy-ness on a plate. I also wish they sold their red velvet ho ho at 7-11, I'd eat one everyday. The service is ok, what do you expect? It's not per se. every time i've been it has gotten better. All in all, I will vist this place untill I try all 23 mussels....After that, I will come back for the Fungi

Needs an attitude adjustment
Went there for NYE 2009 we were a big group and the owner was not nice nor accomodating. She has a serious attitude problem and we spent over $2000.00 that night. The menu is very limited and difficult to order from and there were no substitutions. The only pleasant thing was the waitstaff who were very nice. BUT if the owner doesn't set the tone (I live a block away) this restaurant won't make it. We waited for 45min for our table and were not even told a sorry or given a drink on them. I miss Zocolo I give this restaurant 6 months and then a nail place will be there (Sorry but true)

Yummy mussels...fries just ok
I have to say I loved the mussles....so many delicious choices....hard to go wrong. I just wish the fries were better...If I could get the mussels from FLEX and the fries from B.Cafe....and the beer from either.....it would be a perfect meal! Will definitely be back.!!!!!!

Excellent Food with Serious Potential
The mussels were excellent. We had the classic mussels and then split the fried calamari appetizer and the goat cheese appetizer. With three drinks, the bill came to approximately $70 without tip. The waitstaff could use a little work. The drink orders took FOREVER.. But the atmosphere was pleasant (although a little loud). We decided we'll come back in a few months and give it another try. But they are off to a good start.

Seafood and stars
I have to say that I have never enjoyed mussels as much as I did at Flex Mussels. I had the Thai, and they were even better than they smelled and trust me, if you smelled them you'd know what I meant. In fact, the entire restaurant smells wonderful. The restaurant looks great (although a bit loud), the service was friendly and attentive, and the oyster selection was the best I've tasted in NY. Plus, I had a great view of Diane Sawyer and Mike Nichols who were dining there as well.
