Great food - as expected a bit above par, but the service was sub par (multiple times had to ask for the simplest things - i.e. a new fork / cocktail sauce / bread.) - buuuttt the thing that my wife and I are still talking about the next day is the smell in our clothing and coats. Please take our word for it - DO NOT wear anything nice to the restaurant - we can not get the smell (which is a pungent mix of garlic and other odors which smells like you were in the smelliest taxi cab whose driver hasn't showered in days) out of our jackets (our other clothing was immediately put into the washing machine) - hopefully you will take our word as you don't smell it while you are in there, but once you get home.

We had an enjoyable evening out tonight at Flex Mussels. We enjoyed every part of our meal. First we started with their crab cakes and goat cheese salad that my husband and I shared. Their mussels are Fabulous! We tried their Bombay, Bisque, & Peruvian which was the house special this evening. They were delicious and the bread was great, soft as can be and perfect for dipping in your leftover sauce. We will def be back and quite happy with the service. We were a bit early for our reservation and spent 20 mins just chatting with the friendly staff in front. Highly recommend and it's my new local favorite, along with York Grill. : )

So sad. This used to be a fabulous Mexican restaurant. Now it's... just another restaurant serving mediocre mussels in the UES. Just what we needed. Who came up with this brilliant idea?

My friend and I went there for dinner after hearing about our fellow coworkers rave about it. We honestly expected to be dissapointed because we thought it would turn out to be some trendy, overpriced, bland restaraunt (i'm sure we've all been to one in the city!). The first thing we noticed was the seating arrangements. We ended up sitting at the bar and a half an hour later, it was completely packed! The bar area got quite a bit crowded and I would not reccomend sitting there (get reservations if you can!). The food was very very good. We had a sampling of the oysters on special that day and they were hands down absolutely delicious. Our mussels were also a treat! The thai and bisque were our mussels that night--highly recommend both! The service was very friendly and prompt even though the place had a line waiting out the restaraunt before my friend and I even finished eating! This place is fantastic and am planning on going back!

After eating here I can safely say that I LOVE mussels. The Acadian and Maine are my favorite but several others are excellent as well. It did take time for the server to bring more bread (for dipping in the mussel sauce...highly recommend!), but once he did, he was on top of it for the rest of the meal. For main courses, I have tried the scallops, the salmon and the fish and chips, all of which I would definitely order again. I would have to say the best part of the meal would have to be the crab cakes. They are incredible. The hostess is sweet and the atmosphere is light and airy, which is a nice change in this dismal weather. While Flex Mussels definitely has a few new restaurant kinks to work out, I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious meal.

Great looking place, busy and happening. However, the service was not great. Waited forever for the bread. And I left the restaurant smelling like all these spices, that don't wear well. My husband couldn't even stand next to me, and the next day, I opened my closet door and my coat smelled vile.

Wow, Thank goodness this restaurant has opened. I have been here four or five times since they opened, and it just gets better! The host staff and owners are polite and welcoming. They know the meaning of hospitality, I think they wrote the book. It is the food that keeps me coming back. So far I have tried 8 of the 23 prepairations of mussels. The best... The Thai, the Bombay, and spicey tomato (I forget what it is called) All time favorite...The Fungi, a nice selection of mushrooms in a bacon scented broth. These mussels are lucky, I want to bathe in that broth too The non mussel selection if nice too. yummy scallops, killer fish and chips. I also like the "burnt finger" starter. It is a mix of fried seafood, my only objection is the spicey dipping sauce is too heavy on the saffron. The food is light enough so you can leave room for dessert, which is killer here. The bread pudding with brandy ice cream and apples is just yummy-ness on a plate. I also wish they sold their red velvet ho ho at 7-11, I'd eat one everyday. The service is ok, what do you expect? It's not per se. every time i've been it has gotten better. All in all, I will vist this place untill I try all 23 mussels....After that, I will come back for the Fungi
