    Good food

I always welcome new neighborhood restaurants with good food. They make trekking to Manhattan not worth it.

    Improved

Service and quality of food has improved from last year. Wait staff have lost their attitude; maybe because the place is less crowded than last year. Our meals were all lovely summer foods, light and tasty with fresh flavorful ingredients. The mussels were great, salmon a tad too salty. Will definitely return.

I thought the customer was always right, no?

My girlfriend and I are both in the restaurant industry and tend to be overly gracious and accommodating when we go out to eat. We have had poor experiences with service here before, but wanted to come back for the duck. We each ordered the duck and then when our dishes arrived, the runner only dropped one plate. We patiently waited for our server to come to the table so we could ask about our missing entree. We hailed him down and asked where our food was and his response was "the way you said it made it sound like you only wanted one dish." We were both a bit perplexed how he interpreted that, but extremely offended that he never apologized. He explained the dishes take too long to prepare for us to get what he had ordered. We shared our over-cooked duck and when the check came, not only did they not offer dessert, but he put our cards down and walked away shaking his head. No 'thank you,' no 'I'm so sorry,' NOTHING. In fact, he treated us with such disrespect, when we were such polite customers through and through. Unacceptable.

    never going back

tried twice now. in a word, aloof. I just cant get over how the staff is so inbelievably uninterested in providing service. we had a terrible experience there. 45 min for an appetizer to come, and then another hour for the entrees. yes it was sat evening, but the staff could have come and apologized, lets us know what is up. they were totally confrontational and rude. the response to the question of when the food may be ready was, "all of our entrees take 30 min to prepare", to which i said "then how do you explain the other 30 min"? just lousy, and the food wasnt all that. i live right around the corner and after two attempts, i'm done.

    Would def go back

Have gone here a few times for dinner (both bar side and restaurant) and for brunch. Loved it every time. The grilled cheese and tomato soup are excellent comfort food, and the veggie biscuits and gravy were super yummy. Have not had the poor experience with service that others mentioned on the site.

    Tries too hard...and fails

Service is all but non existent. The food is inconsistent and haphazardly made - do they have someone who knows how to cook in the kitchen? The lamb/ bubble and squeak in particular was very disappointing, as was the chicken. And the deserts are absolutely the worst part. They try too hard to be a Soho I'm better than you artsy place with a posh NYC menu and fail at both.

One of the Best in park Slope

Although the service can be a bit lacking at times (it's sort of quirky, if you don't have anywhere to be) this is one of the best restaurants in Park Slope. The vegetables are always frresh, the meat is incredibly flavorful, and almost every dish I have had has been delicious. Seasonal menu always changes and is always good. Eat here! Much better than many of the restaurants around it.
