Nice people... very very bad food.
I ordered catfish, macaroni and cheese, string beans, banana pudding, and red velvet cake to go. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The catfish was delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was disgusting. I had to threw it away after 2-3 bites. And, honestly, as much as I enjoyed the catfish, it wouldn't be worth the time or money to go there again. Very disappointing.

Not worth the trip
I saw this restaurant on line. I thought it would be a great spot to try. I am from long island hence the title "Not worth the trip". Upon entering no one greeted or seated us. The bar staff were friendly enough, but we had to go to the bar and get the drinks as no one came to the table to ask what we wanted. The wait staff there appeared to be 2 of them, never came to take our food order. We had to go and retrieve the menus ourselves. We ordered macaroni and cheese, which I believe was just noodles and cheese placed in the microwave definitely not like mom makes. No sweet milk, no three or four kinds of cheese, not smooth and creamy. The chicken wings were fine. but didn't need to go all the way to brooklyn for that. Desert was peach cobbler. I am a foodie, I love desert. This cobbler had no crust just soggy peaches and bland whip cream. The barmaid did make a good strong drink. Although they did not carry my favorite brand of vodka. We arrived at 1030 ish, and stayed about 2 hours most of that time was spent waiting to be served. Its unfortunate because it could be a nice place, if more attention is paid to quality in food and service.

why?
My boyfriend and I love to try different restaurants. We ran across this place one Sunday. I ordered the macaroni & cheese which tasted unpleasant! I refused to eat the chicken and the collard greens were wub-par. This place gives Soul Food a bad name.

Service is poor
The food is good, but the service is poor and totally not worth the trouble. When calling for takeout, half the time nobody answers the phone. When they do, you are immediately put on hold and left there for many many long minutes. Several times I've even been forgotten entirely, and had to call back. Even though the food is decent, I am so fed up with the service at this point that I will never go back to this place. There's too many other restaurants in this neighborhood to get treated like this.

Not quite as bad as people say.
The food isn't all that bad, it's just mediocre and fattening, but they do serve huge-ass mugs of draft beer, for decent prices. The shrimp sandwich is better than most of thier food. I liked the atmosphere, but the waitress was a bit clueless. She was nice though, so whatever.
