    cant wait to go back!

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last Saturday night and it was the perfect way to spend the evening! We live on the UES and have been to David Burke and Donatella and thought we would give this a try. The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in the door, with the atmosphere being warm and inviting, we had a great table next right next to the window. The wine sommelier was very helpful and really took the time to ensure we ordered just the right bottle. (he led us to a perfect bottle of Sancerre). We ordered the 2 lb lobster which was amazing, and the rib eye which was cooked perfectly. The Tuna Tartare Taquito for appetizers are the best! Next time I would bypass the Crispy Artichokes…but be sure to order the French Fries, I am not sure what he does to them, but they were unbelievable! And the caramelized banana tart with maple ice cream and peanut dusting was the perfect backdrop for my birthday candle. David Burke was in the restaurant the night we dined here and he was walking around from table to table saying hello and getting to know his costumers, which was VERY nice to see. We will be back for sure, it was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish.

    overpriced!

Due to the weakened economy I doubt I would return to Fishtail because the prices were way high. I was disappointed to see that if you wanted a sauce with your fish you had a list to choose from and the charge for that is $7.50. I don't remember when I was at a restaurant where the main dish didn't have anything else on the plate. Not a potato or a green vegetable? nor a sauce! The food was delicious, but it was overshadowed by the cost. If they want to charge very high prices, they might include something with the entree. The bar tables are not comfortable and the seating upstairs is too tight. No privacy during dining. The restaurant is very pretty though.

    Disappointing!

We ate here for my birthday and were extremely disappointed with our experience! We ordered the "Cocktail Collection" and were served an undercooked lobster.... when we sent it back uneaten, our waiter apologized and said he would let the kitchen know it wasn't steamed enough... yet he still charged us for it! I would expect something to be deducted from the bill (or at least a complimentary dessert). Our fish entrees were mediocre and definitely did not meet our expectations! The tables are also way too close together- I felt like we were eating dinner WITH the couple next to us! Save your money on this one!

    High Expectations Fully Met

This is David Burke's latest restaurant. I am a big David Burke fan and went with very high expectations. Service is excellent (not too fomal), the bar scene lively (there's a raw bar), and the design of the second floor restaurant very typical David Burke - nice and inviting (but cool) design. The only minus is the tight table spacing. Good winelist with some affordable options and reasonable per glass pricing. The food was incredible - better than expected - and beautifuly presented. The menu has a few typical quirky David Burke options (e.g. fish taco's). The fish itself can be ordered clasically prepared. The sides (we had french fries and the artichoke sauce) were super. The only downside - it'll be difficult to score a table.
