Take it or leave it
Atmosphere very nice ,especially for date or taking mom out. It started off well with some very interesting and yummy apps. I loved the octopus with chorizo. The entrees were a disappointment under seasoned and a bit bland.

Good, but can't quite get their act together
This place started out with some fantastic dishes and some kinks (like the horrendous noise). But lately the quality of the dishes coming out of the kitchen is not as high (specials are a notable weak point). The service has never been particularly accommodating or well-trained (also, just sloppy, like dishes being served to the wrong people). And the wine-list is over-priced, with mediocre, limited choices. I would like to be more of a fan, but the weak spots are significant.

Best seafood in NYC
I have gone to many high end seafood restaurants but Fish Tag takes the cake. I first went because the owner/chef is the same guy who owns Kefi, which is one of my favorite Greek restaurants in the city. I have been back to Fish Tag multiple times and I have never been disappointed. The quality of the seafood is top notch and the flavors are drool inducing. The bruschettas are mandatory. One minor, minor negative, it does get loud in there but no more than most NYC restaurants.

Great
Had a few amazing experiences here. Please do not take the Times review to heart. Fish Tag is delicious and a great addition to the neighborhood. Let's keep them busy.

One tiny problem
Fish Tag is -- food- and service-wise -- a stellar addition to the Upper West Side nabe, which is still pretty much a dining desert when you come down to it. Our meal there last night was truly outstanding: I have rarely tasted anything more delicious than my bruschetta with crabmeat, uni, sweet/sour eggplant, etc.: a totally inspired combination. And the service was lovely as well. But as for the TINY PROBLEM, the noise at the restaurant is positively deafening. With four of us at the table, I had to strain to hear what the person next to me was saying; forget trying to converse with those across the table. After dinner, with ears still ringing, we talked to the very nice manager about the problem (we clearly weren't the first), and he said noise-dampening equipment was going to be installed. I will be back as soon as it is.

Great addition to the neighborhood
As a couple of "foodies," my gf and I walked out of there very impressed. Great food, nice wine selection and very friendly service.

Great find!
I had the good surprise to come upon this little outpost in the UWS. Great tapas - the paella soup was really good. the bruschetta spectacular. My timing was good too - got there early 5:30 to find a few guests, left there was a small line forming. Great find.
