    Truly Spectacular

Truly Spectacular ... my wife and I decided to have dinner at the Firebird Restaurant when a friend recommended the place. The restaurant was quite large and the décor was phenomenal. The restaurant is set up as a Russian palace. “WOW” is the word that comes to mind when you walk into this place. Very impressive and beautiful. The hostess led us to our table where we started our evening with some drinks. When the waiter handed us a vodka menu, we could not believe that one place could have so many kinds of vodka. The vodka list was rather lengthy which probably had over 200 choices. Our waiter was very courteous & knowledgeable and suggested the honey vodka which was an excellent choice. We ordered the caviar as well as the chicken kiev & beef stroganoff which were all excellent. Our waiter was very helpful & experienced in wine pairing and picked out a great bottle of wine for us. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant, the service, and the food were all excellent. We will be back.

    Very Impressive

Our group of 6 walked into the Firebird Restaurant for dinner and we all were pretty impressed with the grandness of the decor. It was very impressive. Although it was pretty busy that night and we had to wait for a table to open up, the hostess led us to the bar where we started our evening with some drinks. When the bartender handed us a vodka menu, we could not believe that one place could have so many kinds of vodka. I believe the menu had over 200 choices (no I am not exaggerating). OK, so now a table opens up and we are seated. Our waiter was very courteous. To make a long story short, we had the caviar as well as the chicken kiev & beef stroganoff which were all excellent. Our waiter was very helpful in picking out a great wine for us. It was a great evening and the Firebird Restaurant has some new fans here. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, the food was great.

Good atmosphere, but disappointed with the food

I went there with a friend for an early dinner. The atmosphere was fine and the waiters were very attentive. I ordered Beef Stroganoff, expecting a delicious meal because of the class of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed. The beef was tough and potatoes were on the dry side. It seemed as if it was not freshly made, like reheated leftovers from yesterday.

    The Best

Visited FireBird during restaurant week, which admittedly helped with the cost of a pricey menu, but nevertheless this is an experience worth the time, travel and expense. Food was wonderful [chicken kiev]; try the new tsartini[honey flavored vodka]; ambiance can't be beat. And, look for a coupon for parking on nearby 44th st[Central Parking]. But, do try this Restaurant - it's lovely. And, I'm not Russian!

    Utter Disappointment

Tragic ... 45 minutes to get seated ... even though more than half the place as empty. Horrible service ...They couldn't even place a new tablecloth down for us. We had stains and crumbs on the table. Forgot to serve us bread. Didn't have the wine we wanted and offered something completely out of the taste we desired. Waiter was a hot mess . Glasses dirty, food cold and just overall the most disappointing dining experience ...Not worth the money or the hype.

    Spectacular

Spectacular. I had visted this establishment last year when my relative had their wedding party here. I re-visited the Firebird in January 2009 with business clients and I must say that everything was still as great as when I was here last year. The decor looks like the russian czars palace. The food was very good & was plated in an artistic manner. They had a very comprehensive & impressive wine list and an unbelievable vodka list (Do not leave without trying the Honey Vodka). The waitstaff was very knowledgeable & very courteous. Great food, Great atmosphere, Great decor, Great service. I would highly recomend this restaurant to all.

    So-so food, great atmosphere

I went with friends during restaurant week and was disapointed. The service was very good and you can't beat the old-world atmosphere. Firebird is kind of like a theme restaurant (a la Jekyl and Hyde) where you go not for good food, but to experience the ambiance. If you must go, take advantage of better prices during restaurant week and don't expect too much.
