    Wonderful as always!

Yesterday was my first time at this particular Financier patisserie, but I've been a regular customer of the stores going back six years to their original location on Stone Street in downtown Manhattan. I wanted to mention the manager, who was very kind and helpful to my mother and I. The pastries (one chocolate mousse and and one strawberry meringue) were as amazing as always (yes, I buy the pastries often). This store is just as lovely as the others, but in an impossible to find location (it is both in between 6th and 7th ave and 48th and 47th st -- yesy it is in the middle of the whole street block -- the easiest way to find it is by starting at 6th ave and walking west along 48th st till you see their signature green and white striped design in the window on the south side of 48th). If you are aware of the chain of stores, you probably know that they make a very strong brewed coffee -- and each coffee comes with a complimentary, and also signature, financier (which are very similar to madelines, but with a more cake-like taste and texture). But the real great thing that they make is the pastries, easily my favorite place in NYC to get pastries. Their recipes are wonderful (and amazingly authentic) and if you are adventurous, the more unusual the flavor sounds, the better the pastry will be. My absolute favorite (which I usually get for birthdays and holidays in a large cake form) is the cassis white chocolate. Cassis translates to English as blackcurrant, and the taste is very close to cranberry, but even more tart. Sorry I wasn't able to try more, but I plan to return to this Financier which is just as great as its sibling stores in downtown. Note for anyone in the area: this store location, unlike the others, is only open on weekdays and it closes at 8PM.

    Excellent Pastry and Coffee

I had been meaning to get here but only open Mon-Fri so was a bit hard for me. Food is excellent, just like a Paris pastry shop. Prices very good - will be back for sure. Cafe latte was great, also have salads and sandwiches for lunch.
