A very noisy room, and the croissant and pain au chocolat are not very fresh.

I drop by Financier three or four times a week for breakfast or afternoon tea. Sometimes I just read a book over tea and a superb piece of flourless chocolate cake with raspberry jam. Breakfast is delicious--but everyone wishes they'd bring back the freshly squeezed orange juice--I hope they don't start cutting corners. Delicious panini and daily soup. I was so sad when Payard on Lexington Avenue closed. I was so addicted to their wonderful selection of patisserie. Well, it is here in another incarnation--so beautiful, so delicious, so reasonably priced---and right in my neighborhood!!

I've been to this new bakery 4 times so far in the short time it's been open to sample the pastries. I'm a professionally trained pastry chef - in the French technique and I am really happy with this place. Out of the 4 pastries I've sampled, there hasn't been one disappointment. The prices are fair. Hopefully, they will keep the prices fair or I will no longer be able to afford to go. The seating area in the back is pleasant but the service, though friendly, is hit or miss. Like needing to request a menu or silverware and once there was a mistake on our bill. But the issues are always resolved with a friendly attitude. We are also always greeted with a big hello and smiles at the entrance door which doesn't go unnoticed. Overall, I highly recommend this bakery.

Other than the name , in a time when everyone is cautious with their cash, this place was quite nice. table service in the back and reasonable prices for brunch will keep people coming. great looking pastries in the front which we did not partake in but think payard like Had a very nice lite brunch in the sitting area .will be back..........
