    Great coffee, inconsistent service

Their coffee is great (well, how can you not like illy?). The service is very mixed. Some staffers are pleasant, some are surly. The prices are inconsistent as well. For example, the cost of the caramel mochacino with tax is 4.01 or 4.26, depending on who is running the register.

    Wrong order...again

Great pastry and coffee...when they get your order right. I can't count the times when I ordered one thing and got another. Just this afternoon I ordered a lemon tartlet and got a pear tart. And no, I don't have an accent. Also, I frequently have gotten a cappucino, regardless of what coffee I ordered. For $7+ I expect to get what I pay for. We need more coffee shops in the Financial District instead of just this one and Starbucks.

    Best Desserts!

Simply the best desserts you will find with an average price $4 each (a bargain when you look at restaurant prices). Sadly these types of places are common and easy to find in Paris, in New York they are hard to find treasures. Coffee is also great -- they use illy -- but its strong so you might want less shots if you prefer the moderate Starbucks coffee level. Sandwiches are a mixed bag, they've gotten more generic as the place has gotten more popular, the self named financier sandwich is still the best (but should be eaten warm). For the desserts, this is important: go for the more unusual! Try a pistachio creme brulee or a cassis and white chocolate mousse (my fav), NOT the bland Frasier, which most people who don't know/get the place will order (since it seems simple and safe) and they end up disappointed with it since this is the store's most mediocre "made for unsophisticated palates" dessert. The more different it may seem to you, the better it will most likely taste. This place is still my favorite dessert shop, hands down.

Sweets with a side of surly

I've lived around the corner for a year and a half, and have worked nearby for 4 years. I have the say the staff is surly and as a result I now stop by less often. However, the dessert items are wonderful, they have great Illy coffee and lunch items are not bad.

    Fabulous Cake

I went to this place since I did not find any cake I liked at Mangia. It turned out be much better. The staff was extremely helpful and gave me very good advice. I in the end chose Fraisier to take it to the dinner party and it was so delicious. Everyone loved it!!. I will not go to any other cake shops going forward. Highly recommended.

    Used to be wonderful

This was a wonderful Parisian styled coffee shop when it opened. Great coffee and excellent food. No longer. The service is very slow and I have had subpar food more than once. Skip the food. The coffee is still good though pricey. Expect to wait for it.
