Fig & Olive

I found this to be a huge meatpacking restaurant actually done well. Would recommend it for a group dinner or girls night. Highlights are the apps and small plates but the price on them adds up quickly. I thought the main entrees were fairly bland and won't even bother ordering them next time. The olive oil tastings were a nice touch. Service was just ok.

I have been to Fig & Olive twice and have been extremely disappointed both times. Never in my life have I seen a restaurant where the number of employees far outnumber the number of customers, and yet the customers are forced to practically beg for service. I stopped by one afternoon for a mid-shopping snack and waited over 45 minutes to receive a cheese plate that I ordered immediately. I also received a bottle of wine that was clearly corked, yet the waiter was so negligent that we had no opportunity to say anything. All in all, I would skip Fig & Olive and instead go down the street to one of the many other, better restaurants in the area.

Went for Brunch and it was relaxing and fun! The food was great and the service was fantastic! The waitress was knowledgeable helpful and sweet... We tried a bunch of stuff with the waitress help and truly enjoyed everything!

Went there with three friends for brunch on Sunday at 1. Our server took forever to take our drinks order and then delivered the wrong drinks half-hour later. She then disappeared for a while and we had to get another server to take our food order as we were getting hungry. Our original server then had to come back to re-take the order for the second time! After waiting for another 45 minutes, our food still wasn't out and the server nowhere to be seen. We were starving and asked to see a manager. Nobody showed up still! We decided to leave without paying. Poor service! The manager only came out to apologize when we were almost out of the door. It was too late. Total waste of time! Not worth it at all

I made reservations here for Valentines Day 2008 back in January and the only reason why i did so was to order the VDay special. We arrived at 9 and were promptly seated... and it went downhill from there. First, noone came to our table to take even our drink order for 30 mins. Secondly, they ran out of the special not a huge deal, but what can you do. But from the time we were seated, it took 45 mins to get our drinks, an hour and a half to get our appetizers and over two ours to get our food which was subpar, at best. All in all, if you want a romantic meal with good food and no hassle, this is not a great choice

I must say, at first I was a bit hesitant to try this place because of some of the mixed reviews but I'm glad I did! I went with a group of girls on a Friday night and the service was the excellent! The hostess and waitress were so nice that I almost had to remind myself I was dining in NYC! The decor was great the high ceilings give the place an open, airy feel despite the bustling crowd. We enjoyed everything we ate I'd definitely recommend the crostinis (particularly the fig and manchengo one), carpaccio, loved the fig & olive salad, the Mediterranean sampler, gazpacho and the chocolate souffle. It's a really delicious and fun Friday night pick with a great bar scene, though I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic date. I will definitely be back!
