Skip this one if you want a leisurely dining experience!

The ambience is great and the food is good. But the menu is limited and the service was unacceptable. First, the waitress kept coming over and would not leave us alone until we oredered. Then I had to ask twice to get pepper and fresh lemons. And the food came out in MINUTES! We felt totally rushed although there were plenty of available tables. When we spend such a significant amount of money to dine, we do not expect to have to gulp down our food to keep up with the speed it is being brought out - we like to have a leisurely dining experience. NOT HERE!!!

    Just a weird mix

We went to Fig and Olive this weekend and it was so uneven. The food was actually very good and, in the end, made up for the service, but why is it so hard to get this all right. It started with the woman who greeted us when we go there. Well, greeted is the wrong word. She ignored us until she finally said we could go to the bar and wait until our other friends arrived. When we asked if we had to do that or could we be seated it just seemed like we had just really messed up her day. What ever happened to friendly? We sat at a table when our friends arrived and did not see our waiter for quite a while. By that point people all around us were getting bread and being asked about drinks. We finally pointed this out and our waiter got things moving. He was friendly if a little intrusive. But he did a fine job and was sorry for our initial encounter in the beginning. But the bus boys were intrusive all night and never said a word as if they had been told not to speak or even ask of you were done. All of this takes away from what was actually really good food. The Branzino was well cooked and flavorful and the lamb was very tasty. Dessert was just fine with lovely little cookies being a nice end of meal treat. But what should have really been a fine night out was just not what it should be because of the service. Too bad.

    Wow!

I read reviews and decided to go anyway. Really grad I did! What are people complaining about! The place is beautiful, the service is great and the food is unbelievable! First off, if you want undivided attention and lots of elbow room don't go on a Saturday night. My husband and I went on Thursday at 5:30pm. Walked in and were offered coat check and seated immediately. A courteous and knowledgeable waiter took order for drinks right away. My drink was too strong for my taste and he exchanged it, no questions asked. The food was increadible! Had to close my eyes to chew, sooooo good! We got the pre-fixe for $36/each, which included an appetizer, main course and dessert and we ordered two extra appetizers. The $36 is an awesome deal in my opinion. The portions were perfect and frankly by main course it was kinda hard to breathe, I was so stuffed. I absolutely loved everything I tried. The lamb is so tender it melts in your mouth. The crostinis are yummy. Everything was delicious!! The service was unintrusive but attentive. We were never rushed or neglected. And we were seated in the coziest little romantic corner. How thoughtful! The moral of the story is if you want to eat at the nicest restaurants and walk away with a great experience don't go when everyone else is going.

    Thursday Night Out

Went to the restaurant on a thursday night with 4 friends. Overall had a good dinner experience, but i still have some complaints. In terms of food, most things that i tasted were rather good tasting, but in many dishes i found that the consistency and texture of many dishes was very off. As an example, i order seafood paella with shrimp and scallops cooked very well, but the rice was soupy and bland. Not what i was expecting. One of my friends had mashed potatoes with their dish that tasted like it was made yesterday. In terms of service, out waitress was very nice and our glasses were always full, yet i felt like the bus boys were overly eager to take our plates from us. It was also kind of loud in the place and i would not want to go back on the weekend considering the noise.

    Great food, good service !

We were able make a reservation for a Saturday night for 10 !!!! people in meatpacking district a day before and were accomodated by very friendly hostess and a great waiter. The food is great, drink were perfect and not watered down, although the music was playing a little too loud. We asked the waited to lower it down and they did !!!! Highly recomended !

    Very rude waiters

The food here was lovely, I could write a few good things about this restaurant but it is all overshadowed by how terribly rude the waiters are. While I still had half of my chicken on thr plate the waiter (while clearing away plates) asked me if I had finished. There was no need for this, the restaurant was not full and after we had finished eating we sat there anyway for another couple of hours. I won't be going back.

    what a rude manager!

I went there for dinner on the night of my bachelorette party with 5 of my friends on 10/16/09 Friday. I have always been a fan of their food and have been here before a bunch of times, as well as their other locations. We were enjoying the food, our waitress was great and we were having a wonderful time. Until some man rudely interruped us without identifying himself or even an "excuse me"... Abruptly, he yelled, "Look, ladies, I have a waiting list thing going on and need to get out." ?! We were so stunned at his rudeness that we were speechless for good 30 seconds. What a rude, horrible man. If it wasn't for him, the service would have been top-notch, but he just ruined everything. My friends and I all wanted to argue, but since it was my special day, we took a deep breath and let it go... Even though I love this restaurant, I will not go back until they get a new manager.
