Fig & Olive

I always wanted to try this little hot spot on the upper east side. The restaurant was full of patrons and I didn't have a reservation. The hostess told me it would be 5 minutes to get a table. I gladly accepted to wait. After 2 minutes my wife and I were shown to our table. Although it was busy the waiter approched the table immediatley and brought 3 complimentary olive oils from different regions. We started the dinner with 6 varieties of crostinis which were well presented and flavored. For our entrees we choose the Branzino and the Lamb Skewers. Both entrees were well seasoned and delicious. I can't believe they DON'T use butter. The dishes are very light but full of flavors. That's what I call "Healthy eating". I will recommend this place to all my friends.

My first time here was with my husband when we were looking for a place to eat. We decided to try Fig and Olice. I ordered Quiche and my husband ordered some sort of carpaccio. It was good until after 2 bites,mu quiche tasted wrong. Gah! I told the waitress and she and the manager apologized and offered me another food but i declined.Kinda lost my appetite but we ordered dessert which is absolutely good. It was something chocolate. Second time we came here,I ordered something safe,a salad. Food was really good.

This location used to be awesome, has gone way down hill.

I loved the Fig and Olive on 52 so I figured this was going to be just as good. Boy was I wrong! The waiter seldom came over to get our order or ask if we needed anything. And we did order he refused to make any changes even though we explained we had dietary restrictions. He said that they don't ever make exceptions, which is untrue as they made all the exceptions we requested at the other Fig and Olive (on 52). We also received the wrong dishes and waited over an hour before our correct order was served. Thoroughly a crappy night. I was so embarrassed as I had highly recommended this place to my guest and it turned out awful. Avoid this place at all costs and just go to the two locations.

Firstly, this is not the place to go if you're looking for a quiet evening out. There were 6 of us at our table and we had to scream to hear one another. I can honestly say this is the loudest restaurant I've been to and that's saying something! I had the Fig and Olive salad, which was great. The rest of the food at our table was mediocre, and certainly not worth the price. The service was mediocre as well. Food came overcooked, one woman's coffee didn't arrive at all, etc. It was a pretty strange experience all round.

So this place had been on my radar for a while and man, what a disappointment. We ordered the cheese plate, the bread came moldy. We informed the waiter and of course he replaced it with what? Oh yeah...more moldy bread. Took forever to get our food. Waiter was not good. Salad was swimming in dressing (more like soup). Main course was fair. Don't let the decent atmosphere fool you. Not recommended.

I was extremely dissapointed with the service and food at this restaurant. The wrong food was brought to our table, which wasn't that big of a deal but the waiter never checked on us once. I understand he was slammed and don't blame him at all, it was simply poor management. The portions are extremely small for the high prices and the flavor isn't anything outstanding. When I complained to the manager about the service-he sent the waiter over! Making things super awkward. The ended up removing one item off our bill. I won't ever go back.
