That line that usually wraps all the way out the door is more telling of Fette Sau's dominance as sole BBQ joint in Brooklyn rather than the quality of food. Don't be surprised with shitty service, and regular disparity in quality of meat and sides, it seems to be the norm. You can't serve quality food from a cafeteria line, and you sure as hell shouldn't pay what they're charging for it. Fette Sau is serving up some of the best sub-par BBQ in New York.

The place seems to have got its greasy past behind it. We've been back twice this month and the meat is again lean, tender, and delicious. Keep up the good lean work, Fette Sau.

As for the food, it's great. If you like barbecue, you will love this place. The pork shoulder and brisket are outstanding and the baked beans are the best ever made. Even the pickles were really good and I don't even like half sours for the most part

The food is awesome - heavily smoked and decadent. This is the best brisket around, and you can't go wrong with the other cuts either. The main problem is the painful line (and they will forget to put stuff in your take-out order). But the meat..unreal.

How can this be, reading the reviews here apparently most folks are shocked at the fatty BBQ but the place continues to serve it up with no attempt to correct the problem. I'm no cholesterol prude and I like rich tender BBQ but this place has recently been serving up greasy, sub-par Q at pretty hefty prices. It's so fatty there's no way to navigate around it to an enjoyable meal. HELP HELP. Fix this and get us some good lean juicy BBQ we can enjoy.
