Great Beans, Tough Ribs
Went tonight for the first time with my friends who are regulars. Baked beans were killer. Ribs were tough, chewy, and fatty. ...Where was the meat? Sausage was flavorful, but on the dry side. Everyone in my party agreed that the ribs were not great, but kept saying how it was and "off" night and that the food is generally much better. Sauces were alright. Mustard sauce was not a traditional mustard style sauce. The hot & peppery sauce was lacking a good depth. The regular sweet sauce was good. Overall, I would have to give the edge to Dinosaur BBQ when it comes to sauces. Loved the atmosphere. Great music playing. "Sometimes great music just makes the food taste better."

Cafeteria Service with steak house prices.
Smoked meat. what could be better. Well, how about good smoked meat. Ribs were cold and dry. Brisket was 50% fat and cold, and sliced so thick by hand that i needed a butchers knife to cut thru it. I threw half away because it was total fat, not marbling , but just hunks of fat. The sausage link was ok, just ok. The pork belly was good but again, sliced so thick you couldn't cut it. forks bent from tearing at the meat. The side dishes were ok, cold broccoli and fairly good baked beans. A friend in Williamsburg swears by this place, i guess he has never eaten at Dinosaur BBQ. I have to give props to the Bartender, he was the highlight of the night, and the bourbon/whiskey selection was awesome. To drink i would return, but i would eat BBQ elsewhere.

This is what everybody's talking about.
Lots of people were talking how mind-blowing this place was, so I finally went. The girl at the "food line" acted perturbed that I wanted to order 3 ribs, as if my extravagant hunger was offending her. So I acquiesced and got 2 ribs and sides. When I got to the register I realized I should have been taking note of the prices--they were outrageous! My meal ended up being $35 for a couple ribs, sides, and a drink. ...I grew up with great barbecue and I can tell you, this ain't it, and for the price, it REALLY ain't it. It's the only place around that does BBQ, so there's nothing to really compare it to that could give a good perspective, but please believe, there is nothing special here, now move along.

The place is called FAT PIG
"The place seems to have got its greasy past behind it. We've been back twice this month and the meat is again lean, tender, and delicious. Keep up the good lean work, Fette Sau." The place is called "Fat Pig", if you can't take fatty greasy food - go somewhere else.

Go get the Fette!
Simply put - the very finest 'cue in NYC. Don't agree? Good. It keeps the often long line that much shorter for those of us who get it. Fette is a master class in bbq perfection. Also of particular note is their insanely complete bourbon selection. From the sturdy staples you'd expect to bottles so rare they're hand signed and numbered by the master distiller, Fette doesn't miss a beat. Leave your vegan friends @ home. This is not an equal opportunity dining experience. This is pure heaven for the devoted carnivore and nothing less.

Amazing
Not just the best BBQ in NY, but frankly the best meat. So many different cuts all done so well. Never know what they're going to have, but you can bet it is going to be outstanding. Btw, if you use sauce (see NYT) you don't know what you're doing.
