My boyfriend and I used to come here once a month, when we lived in New York. It's one of those restaurants we went to at the beginning of our relationship, and so we kept going back as a sentimental thing. The food was never great, but it's decent to pretty good, depending on the night. The service was spotty: sometimes a bit too stuffy, and often slow, but occasionally really good. Again, just depended on the night. The pluses: reservations are easy to get and the decor is always lovely and warm and inviting. We moved away two years ago. When we came back for a visit, we were extremely disappointed. The food quality was beyond bland, and interminably slow. While we waited for our meal, we watched two separate tables complain to the manager. He didn't appease them or even apologize he just said, curtly, that they shouldn't have come if they didn't want a "leisurely" meal. Puh-lease! Setting aside the subpar food and the slow meal, our service was offensively poor. The waiter tried to insult us, asking if we were very impressed as tourists, if we had anything like this "back home," blahblah. (We sweetly informed him that this used to be one of our neighborhood restaurants, until we moved to Paris! :-)) Among many other irritants, tables were only arbitrarily allowed to order a daily special dish that involved truffles. Some tables were told that the kitchen was "out," but other tables including tables seated afterwards were allowed to order. Even with our sentimental attachment, we won't be going back.

To say that this was one of the most fantastic and delicious meals I'ver ever had is an understatement!! This was a dining "experience" The food was outstanding, the service was most attentive and accomodating. We enjoyed the gourmand tasting menu which showcased the Chef's skills and the finest ingredients available. This was truly a memorable experience and I hope to return for my next birthday my only disappointment was that Lidia was not on the premises I would have loved to meet her and tell her this in person.

Celebrated my mother's 70th Birthday at Felidia on Monday, October 15, 2007. We were seven women and all of us were extremely impressed with the restaurant. The food was wonderful, the wine superb and the service exceptional. The entire meal was serviced to perfection. It was a wonderful experience!

I came to this restaurant last night for a work dinner and was pretty nervous with all the bad reviews. The service was fine, no issues there. I had the rock shrimp apetizer that was good and then the pasta with rabbit and mushrooms, which was pretty good as well. I have no complaints about anything in the restaurant but I probably wouldn't be very pleased if I had spent my own money on it. I have to say that I have had amazing italian food in the city, and this wasn't it. However, for a work dinner when you are not spending your own money on $28 pasta and $18 apps (one of the least expensive by the way), it's a good place to go.

Felidia has been my longstanding favorite restaurant. I dine at Felidia a couple of times of year and truly I am never disappointed. I read the reviews of other diners who expect “Italian food” what they mean to say is that they expect Chicken Parmigiano and Baked Ziti. This is not the place for Italian-American classics. If you go to Felidia with an open mind and try their amazing homemade pastas (Try the pear and pecorino ravioli) and their fresh meats and fishes you will not be disappointed. It is incredible food with great flavor and an amazing wine list to match. Certainly not overpriced when you think about each piece of delicious, light-as-air pasta was made by hand. The dining room is cozy however I think it adds to the character of the place. I love the fact that most of the times I’m there I see Lidia walking around and greeting tables…I even saw her in the kitchen!

Like most of your critics, I tend to agree that this restaurant is highly overrated and hyped up. Food was ok but for the price and marketing, one would expect superior food, The service was rude and unattentive. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a supposedly 5 star restaurant but nothing special...noisy and tables were too close...one can hear the next table's entire conversation. My family and I would give this restaurant a thumbs down.

I have no idea where any of these negative comments are coming from, but I tried this restaraunt recently and was extremely impressed by the food, wine, and especially the service. It was all phenomenal, and we were also given a complimentary dessert, which was incredible. Would definitely go here again.
