Rincon Cubana
Went to Favela Cubana with my boyfriend on a Thursday night at about 6PM. It was pretty much empty when we arrived, but filled up a little bit by the time we finished. We enjoyed $5 drinks and apps for happy hour, everything tasted fresh, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The only incident we had was that I ordered a salad with steak, cooked medium-well, and it arrived bloody. Luckily, it was served on the side, and the waitress was more than happy to take it back to be cooked. It came back a few minutes later well-done. My boyfriend enjoyed the Ropa Vieja. He said it was very good, the traditional black Cuban beans that it came with were a bit spicy.

Hidden gem
Great food! Great drinks! Friendly staff...service a tiny bit slow. But the food / drinks makes up for it. I danced in my seat to great salsa and brazilian music as i ate. I"ll definitely come back...next week! Loved the drum bar stools. Only negative... I wish the place was a little bigger.

Hidden Gem in the West Village
I LOVE this place! It is truly a hidden gem. I have taken different sets of friends here several times for brunch and each time everyone is so happy to find out about Favela Cubana. The food and vibe is always exactly perfect! The live band during Sunday brunch was fun too!

Good if you don't mind the service
The food is very good. Expect to pay $22 per entree on average. The service isn't that great. Waiters passed by less often the Hailey's Comet. Can get cramped as the bar is adjacent to sitting area. Drinks are typical for manhattan restaurant prices, about 11 for a mixed drink and 6/7 for a draft beer. Bottom line is if you want good food and don't mind spending the extra cash and the lackluster service, then this will be a good selection for you.

Really good brunch and dinner!
I've come here for both brunch and dinner on a number of occasions and I am always impressed with the food. The brunch menu is really unique, and I love trying new things that I wouldn't usually have for breakfast. The dinner menu is also really unique, but with a variety of options that pretty much pleases everyone I come with. If you decide to come for dinner, Happy Hour (at the bar) is definitely worth it. I think it's 5-7.

Great cocktails
We were near NYU and stumbled on this place. Had a great meal and super yummy mojitos! We'll be back.

Great place for an afternoon bite
I took my girlfriend here last Saturday for their brunch special. $10 for delicious Brazilian/Cuban food and a mimosa and coffee! We were not disappointed. The portions were generous and the wait staff was friendly. The place wasn't very crowded, which made us feel like we had found a hidden gem in the Village. We might go again next saturday!
