Stll hungry
Over-priced, under-portioned. I ordered the scallops and received 3 medium-sized scallops. Insultingly priced at $26. Granted , they were delicious but more an appetizer portion than a main course. Nice setting but just another foo-foo place that is insulting to value seekers. Although I'm not a big eater, and really don't appreciate large portions, somewhere in the mid- range of portions would have been nice. I was still hungry when I left. I won't be back.

poor service
I waited 20 minutes for an appetizer, 45 minutes for the main course and 30 minutes for dessert. However, I liked the lobster risotto.

Risotto NOT good.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is fabulous, but the food is NOT good. Having lived in Italy for some time, I can say with confidence that I have never encountered a risotto that looked or tasted anything like this - it was disappointing! As another reviewer described, it was a soupy mess. I felt like I was eating baby food, and at $21 for a tiny portion was really disappointed. The apple dessert was nicely presented and tasty. My friend's strozzapreti was cold. The service was extremely attentive at first and friendly throughout, but by the end of the meal we practically had to send up a smoke signal to get the check. The food is quite overpriced. You're paying for the hip surroundings. So go here for a drink at the bar and skip the meal.

Pass
You can skip this place. The food is not good and not cheap. To boot, the kitchen is really slow. There are so many great Italian places in NYC -- and this is not one of them

Amazing food
I was not expecting to have such an amazing meal but this food was off the charts fantastic! Best dishes were the Strozzapreti (suckling pig pasta), Lardo wrapped Prawns, the Ciabatta app with the duck egg fonduta-actually as I'm writing this I can't think of anything I ate tonight that would not be worthy of five stars! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that has good taste and that loves Italian food and wine. Great service, fun atmosphere. Don't be afraid to share:)

skip it...
blah, food was mediocre at best. we started with the scallop carpaccio which wasnt terribly fresh at all and the lobster susci which was a tad boring. then on to olive oil poached octopus which was too fishy to even eat. the uni maccaroni was tasty, but only because of the sauce. the pasta itself was hardly memorable. the scallops were good, but couldnt make up for the previous mishaps. im surprised scarpetta is even from the same chef. save your money and go somewhere else. this place is definitely more scene than substance.
