    fatty is on my mind

so, surprised to read so many bad reviews for this place. The food is excellent, the portions are perfect for sharing and the service was great. I was planning my next visit there the day after I went.. that good!

    Not recommended

I finally made it to this place last night, having heard so many good things. I could not have been mores disappointed.....the service is not good....and the food is poor......i ordered some sort of mini hambuergers and they were not good at all....the other dishes were very average and the fish was very undercooked.....i seldom post reviews...not recommended

    some great dishes

surprised to see a few negative comments on here. I've been there three times and found certain dishes such as the ribs randang and the malay fish fry to be excellent. The crab was tasty in a great sauce but a lot of work for not many calories. The portions are fine but the prices higher than some places but I'd sooner pay more for these fine dishes than some of the regular fodder available in NYC's mid range.

    Great place!

Went here last night with Kim & Shelly, and we had a wonderful time. The food is amazing, and at great prices. It does get busy. They now have outside tables. We all started with the pork buns, the sliders, and the spring rolls. All of them outstanding . We moved on to the watermelon salad, and we all agreeded that was the dish that the flavors just came alive in your mouth. One fatty duck, one special of black cod and one oyster omelette, for dinner. We could not stop talking about the food, the spices are great. Do leave room for a fatty desert, those little cakes are awsome. We woke up today, and thought lets go back for lunch. See you there. "Fatty Kim," " Crabby Rick, "and do not worry I have the check , Shelly .....

Why spend money for this kind of abuse

The service is all around poor. The dishes - served "family style" is more like tapas. You can get MUCH better service and food quality a mere 15 minutes away at more realistic prices. Please, save yourself the angst and get real eats elsewhere.

    Overrated

Ate at Fatty Crab last night with a friend. I've been to the original Fatty Crab in Malaysia and it was one of my favorite places to go as a kid. This place doesn't compare but then I could never expect it to when it's in a different country. The place was already packed when we got there. We ordered the Fatty Tea Sandwiches - pork belly, sambal aioli which was $7. When they brought it out I was disappointed to see only 3 quarter sized sandwiches. Small but they did taste good. Can't go wrong with sambal. Entrees included bok choy and chili crab. The boy choy was typical like the ones you find at any chinese restaurant. The chili crab sauce was good however the blue crabs simply had no meat in them! I felt like I was just eating chili sauce and rice with the bread. It was a one time experience. Service was awesome but the food wasn't that special for the price.

    Really mediocre

The food took forever, the portions were small, and the dish itself wasn't even hot! Adding salt to your wounds, the food was really really expensive, $30 for a small crab with hardly any meat. Seriously, don't ever go there unless you want to get ripped off.
