    Slim Jim

I thought the skate tasted like a slim jim. There was basically alot of spicy meat product on a bed of fish.

Wish the food wasn't so damn good

The food is so damn good so I keep coming back, but it's definitely an like abusive relationship. I'm not treated well but I come back for more because I can't get the same food anywhere else. The servers consistently "order you up" with tons of pressure and my party always ends up with way more food than is necessary. Then as if they know you have about 4 bites left, they start hovering and cleaning up. I mean, where's the courtesy?

    Amazing crabs

This is my second time at fatty crab and both experiences have been great. We were told that we had to wait 40 mins for a table- the 40 min wait landed up being a 10 min wait. My friend and I had the pork buns with a cilantro salad which tasted great- the sweet bun complimented the spicy sauce the buns came with. We then had the chili crab which came with white toast. Even though it was a messy experience breaking the crab- it tasted amazing. The chili sauce it drenched in the crab was authentic and flavorful. We were stuffed after this meal which only came to 25$ a person which was reasonable for a restaurant in the west village. We were given complimentary coconut mochi which was also very tasty. I will def be back there again! the staff was friendly however it would it would be better if the place was bigger!

    Fatty Crab: Superb Rip Off

This place is one of the biggest rip offs in New York City. When our first entree (Malay Fish Fry) arrived we both thought it was a freebee. Bland breaded fish on a dollop of curried rice. Yes, the fish was fresh but the portion size was something only a leprechaun would find satisfying. Our second dish was no better. Wonton Mee Fried noodles had a small amount of fried noodles in a bowl containing four small wontons and maybe a quarter cup of bland broth. This for $17?

    good food, great atmosphere

I spent several hours at Fatty Crab with my best friend, enjoying good wine, great food, a friendly wait-staff, and fabulous music.

    Delicious!

The food is absolutely amazing! Went with a friend and we shared the Nasi Lemak and the Malay fish fry, which were both so delicious. Also had the chicken rice, which tasted so buttery and rich. Can't wait to go back for the chili crab!

    best malaysian food in nyc

ok the hipster-heavy clientel can be annoying and the music is waaay too loud for a place that size, but it's all about the FOOD dude... every item i have every eaten at fattycarb has not only been delicious, but totally authentic (i lived in hk for a number of years, and have been to malaysia many times) - an amazing feat, since i have discovered that no-one in the kitchen is malaysian or even asian, or has even been to malaysia! the only negatives are that some of the dishes (the crab) are over-priced and the menu never changes - but with dishes as good as the watermelon-pork belly salad, the fatty sliders, the black pepper mussels, i guess it doesn't matter too much. (the staff are very gracious given the crowd)
