    Went Down Hill

sadness is in the day that you spend $90.00 on lunch for 2 and nothing is edible! food has moved directly down the hill! salty slop, i believe this is why the place was empty!

    Most overpriced mean in NYC

I have lived in New York for 3+ years now and have grown accustomed to overpriced meals, but this was the worst I've ever experienced. Everything on the menu is overpriced, but $50 for the chili crab is insane. I also agree with the other reviewers about the amount of fat on the pork and duck - it's really not acceptable considering the amount they charge.

    Not good

This place is such a rip off. 22 bucks for 3 pieces of tough duck covered in teriyaki sauce and Thai chili. 15 bucks for 3 pieces of fried frozen fish with a side of curry sauce. And when was watermelon ever good with pork fat? Seriously. I had the quail egg shooter. Sounds pretty cool? Nope raw quail eggs with fermented shrimp, fried anchovy, hot sauce and left over pork somethings. Stuff that you buy in an Asian grocery that cost a fraction of what they charge. I'm a foodie and this place was just a huuuuge disappointment. Please reconsider if you're thinking about going to this restaurant.

    Fatty Crap maybe...

I never like writing bad reviews, but I feel it's a must in this case. I have lived in the West Village for many years and I have tried pretty much every restaurant in the area. This takes the cake for worst restaurant. Not only was the food inedible, it was extremely expensive. Stay away from this place. However, if you like your pork and duck covered in tough pieces of fat, go here. It's bad Chinese food for 15X the price and that's being nice.

For the foodie and food explorer

Fatty Crab is unique, finding words to say otherwise is difficult. The food quality is just fantastic, but you need to be wiling to enjoy all of your senses when you're eating with them. If you ever watched Iron Chef and enjoy when the judges enjoy the texture of the food, Fatty Crab will be nothing short of heaven for you. The spice is authentic for southest asia, that does not mean it its fully into your palate. It it's new for you, dive deeper because there is an entire world for you to explore and FC will bring you there. From smooth and sensual lipid textures to garnishes of salted dried prawn (kering), it's a journey from one side of the dish to the other. My absolute favorites are on the app menu - the veggie buns and the sliders. I can swim in those sliders. We eat in and also order on take away as it is near where I live. It is not a date for a date, it's a loud, energetic and tight. Sort of like a market spot in Malaysia actually...

Not sure what all the hype is about

The food here was not good. I eat everything, and it doesn't take THAT much to make me happy when it comes to eating out, but this place was unappealing to every person I was sitting with. The mango salad was so spicy I couldn't taste anything for about 5 minutes after I took a bite of it...and I can handle spicy food. The pork buns were OKAY, but the first bite I took was into a huge piece of fat. Mussles were good but sauce was a bomb. Noodle dish had waaaay too much thick sauce. And the chili crab??? I didn't know putting peanut butter in a bowl with a big crab was supposed to be enjoyable. The crab MAY have been good if the sauce wasn't ALL over it, but it was, and it killed the crab taste. In the end, our bill was $200 for 4 ppl to go home with stomach aches until the next day.
