Portions meant for sharing? i don't think so...

I was wary of the restaurant given the less-than-stellar reviews, but went anyway due to a personal recommendation. What a waste. Small portions of over-priced food that wasn't even that good. We kept ordering more coconut rice because we thought we were going to starve otherwise. The waiter made a point in saying that the dishes were meant for sharing. Really? If that's the case, put some food on the plate! We will not be back....

    Avoid at all costs......

Heard rather good things about this restaurant.... Finally got the chance to try it. Food was saturated with sauces to cover up what tasted stale. Portions were small ie chicken wings were 4 for $9.00, are you kidding me? Nope......

    Delish, but pricey

The meal was really tasty, but sooooo expensive. It's strange, because when you just look at the prices they seem on par with other NYC restaurants, but they def. add up. I think it was also shocking because the atmosphere is so casual. That being said, it's very yummy. Highlights include the wings, the fatty dog, and belly and shrimp. Only real miss were the clams, which just tasted like ordinary steamed clams.

Notice how most people here feel it's overpriced?

Believe It! Pork Belly and Shrimp was excellent. Chicken Satay was nothing special, nether was the cauliflower side. She liked the Chili Crab more than I did, neither of us enjoyed the sirloin. Add 3 cocktails for a total of $16o. Not at all worth it.

    Avoid

Tried four dishes with 2 friends: The fatty duck was good and tasty (A grade). Salty vege was a nice touch. The nasi lemak was unappetizing-- served with runny egg (which we never serve on nasi lemak in malaysia) -- and tempura chicken that tasted like 3 day old chicken. The okra was yellow (think 1-week old refridgeration in a forgotten dark compartment and you'll get a picture). (F grade!) The whole fried fish was "all right". Kicap (soy sauce) and chilli paste are not sufficient condiments for a under-season fried fish. Try a touch more salt and tumeric and maybe chill/garlic powder!!!! (E) The fish fritter --- hahahaha -- $14 for three small pieces of "fish and chip" lite tasting munchies. The fritters would be rated a D but the fish sauce (B+) was good for my white rice. As the food came out -- the fish fritter arrived first -- i was glad that we had the fish curry and half a bowl of rice each. Dinner came to $150. A truly underwhelming experience! Seeing the many customers munching down the food, I can't help but think how so many need to set aside the restaurant's "reputation" and "exoticness," while failure to see that the Emperor has no clothes. AVOID!

    Overpriced

Went there today for a light dinner takeout. Got their ramen. The food was ok but they gave too much sauce, and the duck portions were barely noticeable, not to mention not very well cooked-cook taste the fat hanging onto the meat, and not in a good/juicy/tasty way. Was also very overpriced. All I got was the ramen and because this is my first time there, I didn't realize how small the portions were. This ramen came in a bowl the size of a medium soup. All for over $15, not counting tip. Btws, apparently ordering food takeout is an extra $1. The place was also too dark and too loud. By loud, I mean this is post-Thanksgiving so there were 4 customers total in there-the cook started crooning off key, then they put on "music" that was really just "noise". Ok food, but not worth the price. UWS has lots of other choices.

    enjoyable

I went there with a friend before attending the Sonny Rollins concert at the Beacon. We wanted something not too heavy before the concert and also something that would not take to long to fix. We were attended by a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter who told us about the specials which was very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Yes, it is a bit noisy but that seems to be the trend these days. My only problem with the place is that it is too dark and it is hard to read the menu. The food was very good. I am not too sure about the price, however. I didn't think it made a big whole in my pocketbook and it seems to be comparable to other restaurants in the area. Evidently it is very popular because the place was packed. Food was excellent. I would recommend it to friends.
