went with a bunch of colleagues after work for happy hour, which was a good value (2-for-1 drinks). not a great selection of liquor and food portions were incredibly small (we had the trailer park chicken, sliders, corn bread and calamari) but decently tasty. service was very good, and the place has a nice relaxing atmosphere to just hang out.

After reading all the reviews, I was curious about the place. Went last Friday night with friends and was pleasently surpised. The place has a very nice look about it on a well travelled block. The service was very good - our server was very pleasent and we did not have any trouble at all. Overall, the food was good. Like all eateries there are good dishes and those that you would pass on next time. The Trailer Trash Chicken, Calamari, Fries and Mac & Cheese (the best" were very good. The biggest disappointment were the mini sliders - which were tasty, but too small - the size of a cherry tomatoe. We sat and ate and drank for several hours and no one rushed us out. Overall, the Fat Hippo is a nice place to stop by when you are in the area - good, tasty comfort food with a nice atmosphere in a great location with good service at the right price! Definitely worth a visit.

After living here for almost 15 years, I'm glad that somewhere opened that wasn't the same old crap and is cost effective. Very creative menu in which everything on is spot on. Interesting drinks, and the brunch is better than most in the nieghborhood. Hard working staff in a comfortable environment makes you stick around a while. Def check it out, well worth it.

i was glad to see something finally go into this space. we had walked by several times and always notice the place was busy, so one night we decided to give it a try and had one of the best times at a restaurant in a long time. the staff is really friendly and the food is great especially the fish tacos and burger fondue ( what an ingenious dish); the atmosphere is very warm and lots of fun, after ur meal we moved to the bar and had a few more cocktails and was thouroughly entertained by the bartender and some of the other guests we met that evening. the best is that the prices are so recession friendly especially for what you get. I love this place and can't wait to go back soon.

I am a big lover of food. So when this spot opened, I had to come. I had the Crab cake entree with mac and cheese. EFFING AWESOME! The crabcakes here are fantastic! There is generous amounts of fresh crabmeat and it just tastes sooo good. I have since been back many times, and I have enjoyed my experience every single time! The staff is super friendly and they always recommend good eats! and they deliver!

Go for brunch, the food (esp. the rum infused french toast) is superb! Also, the waitresses are really nice and efficient.

i was very embarrassed after taking a friend here last night. we gave our drink order and an appetizer order about 5 minutes after arriving. i kept wondering where my cocktail was, and everytime i looked up at the bartender, he was fiddling around, talking to the bar patrons, etc. i finally asked the waitress about our drinks, and she proclaimed she had "asked him, like, 5 times". then she brings us our appetizer - STILL no drink. we end up cancelling our drink order because we wanted the cocktail pre-appetizer. we ended up going with a bottle of wine, which wasn't delivered so quickly either. she kept trying to take our entree orders, but i told her i was scared we'd get the wine after, so i would wait. the food was fine- i can't complain there. but what a joke of a staff. the manager needs to really do an overhaul here. i will not be back - that's too bad because i liked it a lot during my first visit when they had just opened.
