Famous yes, Food no
This place was a rip off. The food, though portions are huge, is not that good and definitely not worth the money. The service was lacking so I was able to stare at the walls and enjoy the ambiance of the place. Happy hour drinks are good and can't go wrong at $3 a beer. Had the Nachos for appetizers. I basically paid for a $14 bag of unsalted Tostito chips. The fixin's were very scarce. Had the meal for two and the ribs were subpar (they did not fall off the bone), the chicken was very dry, the french fries had no taste what so ever. The only good part of the meal was the tasty pulled pork and coleslaw. This place calls out tourist trap and if you gonna spend the quality dollars anyway then opt for a good steakhouse instead.

Excellent Food
As an annual visitor to NYC from the UK I am quite particular about where I eat and am dubious about chain restaurants in tourist areas. I have to say that I was surprised by Famous Dave's. The quality of the food here is amazing and the burgers are as mentioned in the last post, vastly understated. They are colossal and extremely tasty, especially when topped with Georgia Pork. The meat dishes are cooked to perfection and there are a variety of different BBQ sauces on your table that you can add to your meal, the aptly titled "Devil's Spit" being the hottest. If you like your BBQ and Burgers then this place is a must. Great food, attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Give it a whirl and I'm sure you won't be disappointed

Great place
Food is really good. Brisket is moist and flavorful. Pulled chicken is great, and burgers are underrated. Cole slaw and potato salad are amazing. Fries are good. Great wings (bbq, not buffalo -- the buffalo are only ok).

Doggy Bag Required
Went last month after recommendation from friend and also seeing on television show. Very large restaurant with upper and lower level. They try to be whimsical with the decor. Service was just standard, nothing extraordinary. As for the food, had combo of wings and rib tips with mac n' cheese and sweet potatoes (combo also came with cornbread and corn). OMG!!! Did they think they were feeding an army and not just one person. Doggy bag definitely required. If you leave this place hungry, make a doctor's appointment because there's something wrong with you. Rib tips and wings tasted good with the sauce they came with but still tried out all the sauces on the table and those were good as well. Mac n' cheese was alright but sweet potatoes were yummy. Had absolutely no room to attempt dessert but now that I know the crazy portions they serve I'll save room for it next time I go.

Not so bad
The sauce that's slathered all over the ribs detracts from their flavor. They should have gone with the dry rub. Other than that, nothing special that Virgil's doesn't have.

typical chain. not worth it. had to post and rate so it didn't show up as a top rated bbq place.

Need a bed
This place was AMAZING. The St Louis Ribs were the best I ever had. They have multiple choices of sauces to please anyone’s pallet. FYI: Get the drunken Apples. Goes great with the pork!!! Nice service and hot waitresses ;) a must go, but keep it quiet if you do. now I must succumb to my sleepy BBQ coma. Goodnight (@ 2PM)
