Famous Ben's Pizza

Price compared to what you get in quantity and quality is not overpriced. Not cheap, but fair. Mid & uptown places can't compare anymore for quality. Uptown places can't compare for price if you expect good taste. I've had less than stellar service once or twice in the last year, but generally find them courteous. Whether they recognize me as a regular, i don't know. Compared to most mid & uptown places, their service is a cut above. My order yesterday could have been packed a bit better, but the young kid packing it gave it an admirable effort. I had no complaints. Is it a perfect place? No. But what is? I have people that will travel with me when i comeback from brooklyn to stop there, and that includes having to jump off the subway while heading back to mid town. It's either ben's or it's the place across the street when i get off the train going home. And if i'm carrying food home on subways and trains, rather than just going across from my car, there's a reason. My train stop place is also very good, but ben's is a bit better. And the variety the deciding factor.

Best Pizza we've ever had! Stumbled upon this tiny mom & pop joint, but so glad we did! 4 different kinds of slices sampled and each one was excellent! Very busy and had to clean off your own table, but well worth it!

Found this place after not being able to buy cronuts!! We tried 4 slices, each a different flavour, all fantastic, especially the chicken and bacon and lasagne slices. Just how we imagined a New York pizza shop would be. Very friendly and quick service. Base, sauce and toppings all great. If only they deliveted to the UK!!!

I've seen some of the reviews about this place having bad service. I'm not sure if I just got lucky or what but I had great service. The pizza was delicious and was the best I had in the city.

Have been a BIG fan of Ben's Pizza since my clubbing days back in late 70's. Would always stop there before going home. It doesn't matter how much their pizza cost because to me its priceless! Never found any other pizza before or after that even compares!

Food Quality 3.5 because it was slightly better than other pizza places, but so far off from being "perfect". Atmosphere 2 because the place is grimy. I think they are mostly just looking to get people in and out, so they dont really care about their appearance. If it's nice outside, I recommend the park across Thompson St. Value 2. Let's face it, everything in SoHo is overpriced. You can get a slice that's just as good if not bigger and better somewhere else and pay half of what Bens charges. Service 3. They pretty much lost me on this one. I wanted to give them a 1 because of how rude the cashier was. What brought them back up to a 3 was how quickly they served me. I was in and out in under a minute.

Based on the three pizza characteristics of dough, sauce, and cheese, Ben's has the best overall slice in New York City. Unfortunately, since they are in SoHo, they know that they can charge whatever they want and can treat the customers very poorly. I've been eating their pizza forever but every so often I have been so appalled at their attitude (especially to regular customers) that I boycott the place, only to wind up back there after a few months. You will not be able to find a better slice but do not expect any level of respect, unless of course yr an attractive woman, at which point expect an unprofessional level of flirtation.
