the best pizza I had in NYC
I've seen some of the reviews about this place having bad service. I'm not sure if I just got lucky or what but I had great service. The pizza was delicious and was the best I had in the city.

Best pizza
Have been a BIG fan of Ben's Pizza since my clubbing days back in late 70's. Would always stop there before going home. It doesn't matter how much their pizza cost because to me its priceless! Never found any other pizza before or after that even compares!

Hardly the best.
Food Quality 3.5 because it was slightly better than other pizza places, but so far off from being "perfect". Atmosphere 2 because the place is grimy. I think they are mostly just looking to get people in and out, so they dont really care about their appearance. If it's nice outside, I recommend the park across Thompson St. Value 2. Let's face it, everything in SoHo is overpriced. You can get a slice that's just as good if not bigger and better somewhere else and pay half of what Bens charges. Service 3. They pretty much lost me on this one. I wanted to give them a 1 because of how rude the cashier was. What brought them back up to a 3 was how quickly they served me. I was in and out in under a minute.

Good Bad and Ugly
Based on the three pizza characteristics of dough, sauce, and cheese, Ben's has the best overall slice in New York City. Unfortunately, since they are in SoHo, they know that they can charge whatever they want and can treat the customers very poorly. I've been eating their pizza forever but every so often I have been so appalled at their attitude (especially to regular customers) that I boycott the place, only to wind up back there after a few months. You will not be able to find a better slice but do not expect any level of respect, unless of course yr an attractive woman, at which point expect an unprofessional level of flirtation.

greasy pizza, but tasty
So I've had this pizza about 5 times and each time I say the same thing, bad manners, greasy pizza, but it is the best tasting pizza around Spring and Van Dam..

Stick with the Square pie!
Honestly the Square pie with fresh mozzarella is a 5+ totally worth the sometimes slow service and $30 Just tried their their round pie tonight, greasy with little flavor. Nslowot very impressed. The round pie is average at best. Disregard the atmosphere ranking, never been there.

poor service.
The pizza used to be better but the service is always poor There is one side of the counter where you order re the other side is where you pay. Which by the way is 3 feet from each other. But I was the only one waiting to order and the guy behind the counter would not take my order or even look at me while I was waiting until 5 minutes go by and he says that you have to order from the other side of the counter. I was blown away and walked out. Will never eat there again.
