    Not recommended

A friend and I went there for dinner last night. It may be different during lunch, but at dinner it was dead. From the looks of things it probably HAD been a good restaurant at some time all of the diners (and there were only 3 other tables) were over 60 and seemed to have been coming for a while. Sat down at the table and immediately noticed the silverware was unclean 2 of the forks were crusted with cheese or something and the table still had crumbs on it. They serve margarine instead of butter with the bread... Even though we wound up being the only people in the restaurant at 8:30, we still waited for half an hour for the waiter to ask for our orders he had disappeared into the back and short of walking to the kitchen to call him out we were pretty much out of luck. Our entrees (pasta with sausage) was clearly ronzoni and canned sauce. Sausage was way too overcooked and dry.. In a nutshell if you're looking for a cheap dinner and don't care about atmosphere, service or quality, by all means go there. However, keep in mind that you'll be thinking that you could have made it yourself for a third of the price.

    Best Italian Restaurant Around!!

we just ordered food for 15 people and they brought free salad, and desserts. Everyone loved the meal!! This is the best italian restaurant in our neighborhood, hands down!

Great food and value, little bit cramped

I've eaten lunch here several times and the food is very good for the price. I usually get the angel hair with clams. The service is usually quite prompt and knowledgeable. The seating on the first floor is a little close, but that's Manhattan. I would recommend you try it and sit on the second floor if it's open.

    Nice place

The food was very good and the price was right. The menu also offers a number of tasty vegetarian options. The atmosphere was very pleasant,if a little cramped. Overall a great value for the money. We will be back!

    Rude waiter, poor service

We revisitted this place because the food was good. The owner is quite a pleasant lady, but we are sorry that her waiter upstairs is quite the opposite. As soon as we told the waiter we would pass for wine and have water instead. He started giving us attitute. He looked angry all the time, and eventually he tried to remove my friend's plate before she finished, without even asking. When my friend told him that she was not finished, he didn't even bother to apologize. The worst thing is, they preincluded the granuity on the bill, a whopping 18% for a party of three! When we asked the lady why was the tip made mandatory, she said it's because of holiday. This is completely unreasonable, gratuity is meant for those who have earned it.

    Pretty good

Probably the best fried calamari i've had in the area, has a lot of squid without much "fried"... marinara sauce is good, not great.. the pastas are not as impressive as the other food and do not come in very big portions.. desserts are good but do not seem to be homemade..

A Must Do when in NYC

We live in the Hudson Valley and travel often to the city by train. We stayed for a week at a friends in Murray Hill and wanted to try the local restaurants. This was our favorite. The atmosphere is condusive to a nice quiet conversation and the food is exceptional and a bargain for a nice NYC restaurant. We like that it's near Grand Central and so often eat dinner before heading home. We have recommended this to many of the USMA Cadets who travel into the city with a date or family as it's a great place to eat and not touristy. We consider it 'our' restaurant in the city.
