loved this diner!
A friend recommended this diner when we were visiting NY last November. This diner was amazing!! We were visiting NY for a Mother/Daughter weekend. We ate there 2 different times. Our 8 year old daughters loved it (and so did we). We are coming back to NY in October for a play and definately will be eatting at Evergreen again. The food is awesome and so affordable. I highly recommend this diner to anyone visiting the city.

Best Place to eat on 47th street between 6th and 7th avenues.
I would just like to say that as a frequent patron of this fine eating establishment, I am highly recommending it. The food is always good and the prices are very reasonable. My co-workers and I order from Evergreen at least twice a week. Enjoy!

Shudder
The praise some have given to this brazen clip joint (meaning: a sub-standard rip-off tourist trap) is stunning. Maybe they are people from places without any decent diners. For what it's worth, real NYers hate these kinds of places. I have worked literally around the corner from this place for ten years. My colleagues and I have agreed that it used to be great, then it slipped to being just good, now it's a disaster. Most of the dishes are just more or less acceptable - the problem is getting them served: (1) promptly (2) hot (that has always a problem in this place - what, is their kitchen in a deep freeze?) (3) the way you ordered them (4) with at least something resembling politeness. The list could go on and on, but I'm getting a headache just thinking about this place. Anyhoo, the service is slow and rude, EVERYTHING arrives cold (except for cold dishes, which often arrive warm) and they do not seem to understand concepts like "medium" " rare" and "well done." No matter how you order any meat dish, it is thrown in front of you with an attitude and comes burnt, or at least way overdone and, of course, cold. My last visit there I ordered a soft-boiled egg. A blackened-yolk hard-boiled egg was delivered (it arrived cold, of course.) I pointed this error out to the waiter, who just wandered off. The manager then appeared and said that it was "as soft as they could get it." That was enough. Anyone silly enough to go to this Times Square con job deserves what they get. You have been warned.

Not worth your time and money
I ate here after a three-year hiatus, and the place seems to have gone downhill. Food quality was really poor burgers, chicken, salads were all completely tasteless. The diner was also half empty I remember it being a bustling, quintessentially New York kind of joint. I don't plan on ever going back. Very disappointed with the whole experience.

best midtown diner
If you want good diner food in midtown (and you do), this place can't be beat. Eating in it's got that bustling diner thing going for it, and the food is both delicious and prepared with superhuman speed whether you eat there or take it back to your lame office job (and you do, as do I, it's ok). Can't recommend it enough.

Superb Breakfast near DoubleTree TS
I had read the reviews on the internet and the Evergreen Diner and Coffee Shop was recommended by many folks staying in the Times Square Area as a place, for a good breakfast, at a good price. My family and I were not disappointed. Between us, we ordered a good variety of foods (too much to remember it all): pancakes, waffles, omlettes, all came with various side orders. The food was delicious. Everyone was happy. My Dad who is typically prefers to eat at breakfast buffets when we are on vacation, really enjoyed his meal (expanding on it by eating some left over pancakes from my kids whose portion sizes were double what they could eat). Due to reservations elsewhere for breakfast and an early morning start for our site seeing schedule another morning, we only had the one opportunity to eat there, but we would have gone everyday if it fit our schedule. It certainly beat our hotel's buffet breakfast hands down (both in quality of food and in price)!

evergreen
We have been going to New York regularly for years now and have always used this restaurant for breakfast. It is great value for money and their take out is quite good too.
