    Untouchable; step off, dumpling pretenders

If you find better dumplings, post a list here. Seriously. And don't come waving the Rickshaw Truck in my face, because Eton will lay a smackdown on Rickshaw Truck. Come correct or get it over with and bow to Eton. That's it, kiss the ring. Needless to say I don't expect a list but if one appears it's certain to be short and delusional.

delicious - but they rarely have any specials

Eton rules. I crave it with for more than fortnightly frequency. Some weeks I've eaten Eton up to three times. Usually at least once weekly. My major frustration, given how often I patronize the place, is that not once, not one single time, have they actually had the 'special' dumpling-- which, to my understanding is always only kim chi. First, I think they should offer more variety in specials; second, if they're going to bother listing a special dumpling, and going so far as to make it available only after 5 pm, then they should actually follow through and sell said special dumpling. This is the one glaring flaw in Eton's otherwise awesome execution of keeping the customer satisfied and loyal.

    Cravable!

After finally trying this place, I am craving the dumplings fortnightly! All three varieties are good, but the chicken and mushroom kicks some serious butt. And hey, they're making them fresh for you right before your eyes. A tip though, call ahead and you won't have to wait for your order. And a nice assortment of dipping sauces to boot. Staff are upbeat and friendly, greet you when you walk in the door. And at $3.75 per order, my wallet went home happy too.

Yummy dumplings and Hawaiian Shaved Ice

The dumplings here are quite tasty. In addition to the beef/pork cabbage, chicken/mushroom and veggie/tofu, they also have a daily special. The duck a la plum are so good! The Hawaiian shaved ice is a wonderful treat. Sure beats the ices from the pizza joints! There are tons of syrups to choose from and they are not overly sweet. Watermelon with condensed milk topping is my current favorite. The addition of "plate meals" (rice and salad with your dumplings) is a great addition as sometimes you want a little more than just dumplings. I only tried the soup once before they switched over to the ice and the homemade noodles were very good. For a small neighborhood spot, this place is great and worth the wait (the dumplings are made fresh to order so call in advance or have an ice while you are waiting).

    Great Dumplings!

The food here is amazing. The dumplings are incredible, as is the shaved ice or soup depending on seasonal availability. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC and the value can't be beat. Better for takeout than dining in because the restaurant is relatively small with only a few tables. I would also suggest calling ahead because your food is actually made when you order it, and this can take 15-20 minutes. Worth the wait though. To address some of the criticisms: The dumplings differ slightly from what you would get in Chinatown because the dough is actually handmade in house. This produces a slightly thicker skin and a chewier final product. A great place for lunch or dinner, and a must try if you are in the neighborhood!

    Dumplings are mediocre

The dumplings are mediocre at best. I've tried all the dumplings and went back there several times thinking that maybe it'll be better next time, but have been disappointed each time. The skin is too chewie and the fillings are unsatisfactory. They don't travel well & I only live 3 blocks away. They sit like lumps of coal in my stomach & I end up wishing that I should have just made the trek into Chinatown instead.

    Very Disappointed

I love dumplings and so I went here based on a referral yet the dumplings were VERY disappointing. The outsides were greasy and the inside mushy and not very tasty. I tried the vegi / tofu and the chicken and didn't like either. The sauces were odd too, tasted sorta like medicine. Too bad, the owner seemed very friendly. I won't try the dumplings again though I may pass by in the summer and try the ices. My dumpling search in Brooklyn continues...
