I have not lived in NYC since the 1960s. I stil have an apartment in Gramercy Park so Ethos was near. The last review from Steve gave Ethos a pretty poor rating. I wondered if we just went to the same place. I just checked. There is only Ethos on 3rd Ave. in NYC. We had reservations 7:30 Saturday night but we were there 5 minutes early. We were seated immediately. The waitress was there in 2-3 minutes and the excellent Santorini wine there in 3-4 minutes. I'm not Greek but love Greek food. The food was 4.5/5 and service 5/5. I'm not sure what happened to Steve's group. I had a very different experience. The music was too loud as was the talk around us but that is what I think about all NYC restaurants.

I do have to say Ethos certainly gave me the worst dinner I've ever had in New York city. I dined with two other couples at 7:30 on a Saturday. We did not leave the restaurant until 10:15. We didn't stay so long because we were having a great time. We stayed so long because the service was the slowest I've ever experienced. Our waiter never ever came over to check on us at all. After maybe 45 minutes after we ordered our dinner our server came over to me and asked "are you guys going to order dinner too or just have appetizers?" I of course was confused and reminded him that he just took 6 dinner orders 45 minutes ago. He only replied " One second sir". He never came back to give us an update. When our dinner finally did come out maybe half hour later we received 5 of the 6 dinners. The 6th dinner took another 20 minutes to come out. When it did come out it was the wrong dinner. It took maybe another 10 minutes to get the right dinner. Nobody apologized to us at all. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. It is by far the worst in the city. I can even tell you that people were screaming at the hostess behind us because people with reservations were being turned away from the restaurant. If you want a good dinner with a nice relaxing atmosphere this would not be the place to seek that out.

Food was excellent, service friendly but a bit slow. Would definately go again.

The appetizers here are very tasty, and there are tons of vegetarian options. You get a free (very tasty) dessert if you hang around and look hesitant to leave

I have gone to ethos on multiple occasions. It ranks in my top 10 NYC restaurants. Characteristic of popular NYC restaurants, it can be busy and there is a small wait--which is absolutely worth it, considering the value you are getting for your money and time.

My husband and I were craving some good greek food and stumbled on Ethos. Have to say, the food was not all that -- the classic greek salad was missing some key ingredients, and the tomato sauce in the lamb with orzo distinctly reminded us of Chef Boyardee! Disappointing to say the least!

This is an awesome Greek restaurant! I absolutely love the grilled octopus salad. They are very large so you can split it with someone and also order an appetizer. This fish is delicious and all the appetizers are really wonderful! I continually go here and have never been disappointed. They also give you a free dessert on most nights! What a treat!
