I am Greek, and recently decided to try this restaurant with some of my friends. I was not dissapointed, the food was wonderful, service was on point and we had a great time. Everyones food was delicious and tasted just like Greek food should. Definitely get the Fish, its worth the extra money, mine was perfectly seasoned. We got the salad and while it was definitely not Greek (as Greek salad has no lettuce, only tomatoes), it was still pretty good. They even give you olive bread in the bread basket (along w/Pita). While it can be a bit noisy, I dont know why everyone is complaining, I had a great time and will definitely be back!

Horrible service undercut our experience. Server was not only rude, but hurried us out despite the fact that we had a reservation. They slammed plateware and sliverware down, and might as well have thrown the food at us. When we finished our entree the server brought the bill and said "you didn't want any coffee or dessert right? (as I hand you the check)!" I heard this was a great place for greek but really it's a place to be shoved around. This is especially disappointing because it was my recommendation and first time I met my boyfriend's boss and colleagues. Having to apologize for the horrible recommendation and bad service is no way to get started off on the right foot for business dinners or even a night out with friends.

I ate at Ethos for the first time with a friend last night. I live in the neighborhood but hadn't eaten here yet. Though the rest of our meal was great, DO NOT order the greek salad. Just putting greek cheese on tomatoes and scraps of lettuce does not constitute a true greek salad. Aside from not being authentic, it was not good at all. That being said, the dips, spanakopita and the rest of our meal was great! I'll definitely go back, just not for a salad.

I live in the neighborhood and eat at Ethos often. From the outside, it's not a place I'd choose if I didn't live close by, but is worth traveling to. It's also very crowded and noisy. That said, it's some of the best food you'll get--my favorite is the grilled octopus on salad greens--their greens are organic--and the octopus very hot, just off the grill, and very tender--and extremely reasonably priced. A quality of food you'd expect in a much more upscale restaurant.

I've lived in the neighborhood for 7 years and I am a bit confused by the reviews I just read. I frequent this place about twice a week. The food is incredible, especially if you like seafood, fresh salads, and specifically octopus or great fish. I just don't believe these reviews and frankly question whether they are competitors. After 12 years in NY, I am pretty damn critical. But when a place deserves praise, I make sure they receive it. This place rocks and if you choose not to go more for me! :)

This past summer I frequented this restaurant with my then boyfriend and he, being Greek, was very friendly with the management of the restaurant. We were treated very well and the food was excellent. However, summer is over and so is my summer love. This past weekend I went on a date and recommended going to Ethos unfortunately I had a poor experience. I called to make reservations and when I arrived they did not have my reservation however they did have empty tables. We were quickly seated at one of the bar tables near the "garage" windows looking out to the sidewalk...very nice table. Water glasses quickly made their way to our table however we waited nearly twenty minutes before we caught anyways attention to take our wine and food order. My date was very sensitive to sweets and the waitress was very kind enough to offer to change out our wine order if it wasn't to my dates liking. The main course didn't arrive for another 20+ minutes, in the interim we snacked on tazaki and what was left of the pita/bread bowl which was never refilled . I had the swordfish which was very tasty as well as the spinach and rice side dish. My date had lamb in a clay pot which was cold and the orzo was so sweet it was not edible. I was SO embarassed that I had recommended this restaurant and I could tell my date was too polite to complain. Having grown up in a restuarant and being a gastronome, I'm taking this place off my list. There are plenty of other GREAT Greek restaurants in the city offering fantastic food AND service.

My friend wanted to try this restaurant since it just opened up in her neighborhood on First Avenue and boy, I wish that I hadn't been dragged along! While the decor inside may look fresh and hip, the restaurants customers certainly were not! The waiters were rude and disinterested and the service was slow. The fish I ordered for my main course was bland to say the least. In addition to being bland, it was overpriced. What an awful experience!
