Ethos has consistency great food and consistently subpar service. Your never quite sure who your waiter is. While they really need to work on their customer service, the food is worth going back for. I would highly recommend the Thalasalina on a skewer (an assortment of fish and seafood with vegetables) - it was fabulous!

I travel to Greece almost every summer and when I discovered this place I almost started to cry because the food reminded me so much of Greece! I now am a regular customer there and would highly recommend this place to anyone!

My friend suggested this restaurant after reading the reviews on this page, and we had a wonderful experience and now go back every week or two. Ambiance ( you really feel like you are in Greece and importantly, it is not too noisy) and service is great (we even receive free dessert everytime we come) and the food is FABULOUS, with good size portions and reasonable prices. Highly recommend the artichoke appetizer (more like a salad), the warm cheese cooked w/ peppers and tomatoes, as well as the seafood skewers! Great for a group and romantic enough for a date!

I came to NYC often and usually end up in 5 star restaurants such as Per Se, Masa with my husband. My daughter just moved here as a graduate student and we walked into Ethos one night. The owner was so gracious and welcoming even when we asked to wait for a 4-person street side table for 2 of us. We had grilled octopus, greek salad, grilled orata, a mediterian white fleshed fish, all were great, fresh and wekk prepared. Needless to say, we returned 5 days later and requested the street side table again. We tried grilled squid, moussaka and grilled orata again. Delicious. We loved the owner so much so that we bought him a drink. If I lived in NYC, I would definitely make Ethos one of my favorite spot for dinner. Lucky daughter of mine though. .

I went to the restaurant based on the reviews here. WOW! Visiting NYC with a friend from out of town, he requested Greek. After a few Google inquiries, I made reservations at Ethos. It was a perfect New York evening. Warm with a cool breeze. There was a door open that allowed the breeze to billow into the restaurant. We were greeted and seated promptly . The menu was extensive. True Greek dishes. Names I could not pronounce. Our waiter was attentive (and good looking). After much deliberation we ordered appetizer and entres (one veal and one seafood with the promise to share our meals). Hot fresh bread (pita and a thick crusty bread) was brought to the table. The olive oil was rich and smooth. I would have been happy with just the bread and oil. Appetizer was mouth watering. Squid stuffed with Greek cheeses. It was so authentic. Dinner came. I got veal in a clay pot. My dinner partner got shrimp in a floral tomato sauce. I did not share. My dish was so good, I only gave him a fork full and guarded my meal against his persistent requests for "just one more taste". Service was perfect. Food was terrific. I would recommend this restaurant to ANY one in search of great Greek cuisine!

This restaurant serves really good food, and the portions are generous. We actually ordered four appetizers for two + a main course, and luckily, they forgot one of the appetizers! The service is nice, although there's room for improvement. It takes the waiters time to fill up your water, or to show up when you need something. It's also a bit compact, but that's expected in NY. Overall a very good experience, worth every penny.

Whenever I feel down, working hard in the office, I imagine the beauty of Ancient Griece, the magical charm of Athens. That is when I dial Ethos, for it is the closest thing to this quick enigmatic getaway. Often spoil myself with the freshness of the Elliniki salad or soft sting of the spicy lamb soulivaki. Highly recommend!
