In this economy - prices too high

I love this place, as well as the bar across the street, but it seems the prices are going up, rather than giving anyone a break in these tough times. $17 for a salad with a little bleu cheese on it? It's almost rude. Still, Freddie's charm at the Bar can cover a multitude of sins...

    Overated

I typically never write negative reviews, but I want to warn future diners looking for a new place to try on the UES. The food was average and WAY overpriced. The ambiance was boring and the tables were right on top of each other. I felt more engaged by the conversations on both sides of me than the one with my wife. However, the chocolate soufflé was incredible. I heard the restaurant’s bar across the street is worth trying. I may try, but I first need to recover from feeling like the American tourist in Paris who overpaid for a mediocre meal.

    Delicious

Went on Sunday night for dinner and it was delicous- The boston lettuce salad with hazelnuts, hazelnut oil, stilton and pear was OUT OF THIS WORLD. the addition of hazelnut oil was an inventive twist. Ask for their aged balsamic vinegar with your breadit is sweet and thick and perfectly complementary

    Amazing food!

This place is a find. Really amazing food. This is a case of you get what you pay for. It's not cheap. I had the gnocci ap and the Paella. Both were excellent. we had a bottle of wine too. the wine list is top notch. The only criticism I can come up with is that the atmosphere is a little cramped and it's not a bargain at all.

    Wow-excellent food!

Ate there this past weds for the first time. The gnocci ap was excellent. the paella was excellent as well. It's NOT cheap and I am big guy with a big appetite. I could have eaten twice as much... It may be better that I didn't but portions could be larger.

    Wine Bar accross the street

Helpy Helperton here. I had a reservation accross the streeet at the expensive main restaurant but things didnt work out with my date so I ate alone at the Wine Bar accross the street which is also called Etats-Unis which means "There ya have it" in French. The service was attentive and informative with regard to the preparation of each dish. The waitor sat down with me and walked me through the menu. We agreed on a wine that I would like...2002 Napa Cabernet, fantastic value. I had an amazing meal and because its such a small wine bar i kept bumping into the same girl so we hit it off and left together. Try the date pudding, its amazing!
