We have heard nothing but good things about essex, so we decided to have my sisters birthday dinner at essex's. The food came out quickly and everyone was happy with their meal. The tuna sushi was original and yummy and I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. (just enough spice) Our waiter even gave us drink tickets along with a piece of cake with a candle. Which was so sweet of her and greatly appreciated, since we didn't even ask, so nice. Our group decided to stay to get our drink on at the bar. We would of stayed the whole night but the dj is not very good. His music is out-dated and he needs to learn how to put the songs together. It is the LES, why are we listening to hip hop-madonna music or whatever you want to call, lame music from 1998 on a Saturday night? If I wanted to go to a NJ club I would go already. Overall I loved Essex, will I go back yes, just not late at night for drinks, music not good and too old for LES standards.

You really can't beat the Brunch prices here. The food is definitely oversalted, rather greasy, and quite generic and the service leaves much to be desired, but for $16, can you really complain all that much? If you aren't planning to drink, go somewhere else for Brunch.

We had a wonderful eveningand enjoyed everything about Essex. The mussels in a tomato and chorizo sauce might have been the best ive ever had it was a very generous portion for only $10. I had the duckbreast main was delicious as was the sides it came with. Our whole party loved the evening. My wife raved about the blood orande martini. And all for very fair prices. Would certainly return to turn some friends on to it.

Depending on what you order for Brunch it is only $16 for the item which include 3 Bloody Mary's, Mimosas's or Screwdrivers(OJ and Vodka). You can't beat that! I ordered the Deep South which came with some fried chicken, biscuits and gravy. My girlfriend had the potato pancakes and then complained that they were just hash browns.... haha. We sat upstairs and got there around 4 pm for brunch. I had 2 mimosas and 3 bloody marys.... how YUM. Enjoy

I have walked past this place 100 times and never paid any attention, looks more like a soup kitchen than the cool place it is. Inside the music is going and the crowd is young and fun. Service was great, food was great, loved the large menu selection. And 3 drinks included? Havent found a place to beat that offer. Im going back! But go on Saturday, it is hard to get in on Sunday.
