Essen Slow Fast Food

Great quality and amazingly large portions. They take their time to make your sandwich and it's worth it. If you want fast food, go and get one of those pre-prepard sandwiches.

Ordered a bagel with cream cheese and lox paid 8$ got back to the office and all it had a cream cheese and tomatoes. I called and they basically said bring it back or tough. really poor customer service. I eat there 2x a week won't be back.

The only way to ensure that you will be able to order what you really want seems to be braving the lunchtime rush. Show up after that and you run the risk of them being out of things. Not sure why they offer delivery either. I called at 2:15pm (after the lunch rush) and tried to have something delivered but was told they didn't have anyone available right now and it would be at least an hour. This place would be a gem if it had better management.

what happened to the great food they used to have at the salad bar? The new management decided to serve pasta and potatoes and heavy other items rather than the great seafood they used to have. Who wants that for lunch? Go back to the original salad bar menu !

I have been eating at Essen for the past several months. There is new management. They have taken the quality of the food up several notches and care what the customers want and think. I spoke to the owner one day and he was over accommodating which was a nice change from other delis in the area. The variety is pretty diverse and the grill and chopped salads are GREAT! Come early because they get busy quick.

I have only been here about 4 or 5 times. I work in the neighborhood and it is nice to see another deli in the area. The food is fine. However, I have gone 3x during breakfast and the grill line is extremely SLOW and the cooks taking the order are completely disorganized. The first few times I went, I thought the slowness resulted from the fact that the deli just opened this summer and needed to work out those new store "kinks". But, I have to say, there are too many other delis in the area with the same quality food for me to venture into this one when it takes forever just to get breakfast. On the upside, the pre-cut fruit is reasonably priced compared to other delis in the area.
