    Too tasty to pass up

the bagels are amazing. but good luck going there to get them. the service is agonizingly slow. and i've never experienced a more bitter staff. they are blatantly rude and i think they enjoy messing with and speaking down to customers. poor service, but their bagels are delicious.

    Decline in Service

Our office has used them for over a year for delivery for our weekly bagel day. Their service had become so deplorable that we had to check the status of our order the day before (we ordered through Seamlessweb.com) AND the day of, only to still have our orders arrive HOURS late and/or WRONG. When questioned on this WEEKLY, we were told that "everybody wanted them" and that we could "come pick up." When asked why they weren't willing to work with a long standing customer who has given them over a thousand dollars worth of business, we were told that they are just too busy. We took the issue up with seamlessweb.com. Their response? "We have had this problem with them on SO MANY OCCASSIONS. We HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. Speaking to them only makes matters worse." Ess-A-Bagel is making so much money that they don't want or need yours. We are taking our precious time, stomachs and money elsewhere. They are not worth it in the least. UPDATE: The delivery guy arrived an hour late and tried to break into our back door. Literally! HE'S BEEN COMING HERE OVER A YEAR! And guess what else? Our stone order (they don't serve us bagels, but rather humongous rocks) is wrong! Save yourselves.

Good place for take out bagel.

Its a cool place to get a bagel to go. I wouldn't recommend hanging out here but if you have to it's not bad. Great bagels and spreads.

    a little fishy

if you don't love fish, make sure to ask for a clean knife before they slice your bagel and make a sandwich...otherwise, this place is great. the bagels are delicious, there are a ton of yummy cream cheese options and they guys who work behind the counter are the best. it can be a little pricey, but it's definitely the best bagel in the neighborhood.

    best bagels

These are the best bagels in NYC, hands down. The service is slow, and i would never actually eat my bagel inside (always take out), but they are scrumptious!

    Amazing bagels!

By far the BEST bagels around! Long lines and cramped seating don't provide for the best atmosphere, but the bagels are well worth it. They are huge, more often than not straight from the oven, and absolutely delicious!

    not worth it

While the bagels are decent, they're certainly not worth dealing with the people that serve them. I've never seen the staff get an order correct or treat a customer with any respect. And that's after waiting in line for 15 minutes for the honor of speaking with them.
