    Not nice

Unpleasant experience several times until I learned to go elsewhere.

    good food, overpriced, horrible service

their overpriced bagels are tasty but they have the worst customer service. they are impatient, rude and inconsiderate. one time, the guy made a racial joke on my friend - we left in disbelief & would never come back again.

Student or not, a great place to eat

When I was attending Simon Baruch Junior High School 104, Ess-a-Bagel was one of the places I went to frequently for lunch. Their topping selection was unique and awesome. It was because of them that I was able to try strawberry and/or blueberry cream cheese!!! As if that's not enough, they put quite a heap of it on the bagel too!!! You should definitely check it out!!!

best bagels - who needs atmosphere

Ess-a-Bagels are the best in NYC. Born in the Bronx, bagels were a staple in my house. When I tasted this bagel I knew there was no reason to buy any other. My favorite: the multigrain with oats on the crust (yes I know it's not traditional but it's an experience), needs no cream cheese or topping to enhance the taste.

    Pretty good bagels, poor atmosphere.

The bagels are pretty good, but the staff are pushy, rude, and abrupt. Show up knowing their exact ordering system (order drinks at the cashier!) or you might get yelled at. They do not deliver, but they do accept credit cards.

i dont think these can be called bagels

This place was recommended to me by two people, so i went in to get a dozen. The bagels look good because they look big, but this is because i dont think these people even boil the bagels. They are more like bread in the shape of a bagel. Not boiling bagels before you bake them leads to bigger bagels with the wrong texture - thats how Ess-a-bagels can be described. If you want a real bagel this is not the place to come.
