This place is my morning life saver! Best bagels and bagel sandwiches!!! I have done take out and delivery, I work nearby so they are always pretty quick. The service is great, be polite and they will treat you great, just like anywhere else. I once left my car mug there and they held on to it and brought it to me the next day when I didn't even order anything b/c I got stuck working late and couldn't pick it up. They are the BEST!!!

Once you have had an Essa Bagel you will come to the obvious conclusion- they are the best hands down in this town ! I've had other bagels at so called "specialty" or "gourmet" bagel eateries and found that to choose other than Essa Bagel was a dire mistake ! I love bagels and I have tried places uptown that have a closer location to me and they could not compete with Essa Bagel. Yes, Essa Bagel can get very crowded but after eating there you'll understand why ! The bagels have the same quality of taste since I've been eating there in 1994. And the cream cheese selection is well made, delicious and without peer ! If you truly love bagels you will not be unhappy if you choose the best bagel eatery in the city !

Although the seating is hard to find at times, and the line is usually long, this place is awesome! the roomies and I are here at least once a week, and especially after a long night of drinking! Nothing beats a huge bagel with turkey after a great night out. And I bring all of my guests here before a long day of tourist's attractions. The whole wheat everything bagels are my favorite. Thanks adorable grouchy old men for making my bagel experience memorable!!!

It's so frustrating that the service here is so poor, because the bagels are the best in the city. Good luck with getting your order right, whether it's in person or delivery, I've tried both.

This place has got to be one of the best bagel places in the city. The 79th street bagel shop is good too but I find it funny that they don't prepare your bagels for you! 'Especially if I'm looking for a good lox bagel! They've got tons of exotic cream cheeses but i stick to the normal sort like scallion and veggie cream cheese. I was adventurous one time for the strawberry cream cheese but you have to be in the dessert mood for it. It's very sweet. They also have tofu cream cheeses. I'm a huge fan of garlic bagels so that's the standard for me. Their bagels are gigantic so be prepared to be full for the rest of the day. It real messes me up because I'm never hungry by lunch when I have one of these for breakfast. Unless you hit the crowd, the service is pretty good. It's quick and the guys are generally pretty nice. I can't forget the one guy who always tries to speak Japanese to anyone who looks Asian but I give them credit for having menus in Japanese. The price isn't bad for a bagel place but I haven't tried the sandwiches there. Their iced coffee is pretty good too. All in all, it's a great bagel place. Very personable staff.

The bagels are very good, but they microwave the eggs which is absolutely disgusting and inexcusable. I will stick with the smears if I go back.

These bagels are the best and the place has some character with its employees. The only downside was that I was there late morning during the workweek and the service was fairly slow. My guess is that they were either getting ready for the lunch crowd or were working on catering. Recommend the egg cream!
