The service is pretty poor-took forever for anything to come out, and we ended up missing a show! A med-rare steak came out med-well, and the steak and salmon were plain and unoriginal, definitely not worth the price. Atmosphere is good, but don't pay this much for good atmosphere.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I was sorely disappointed. When I arrived with my party, they refused to seat us on the terrace though it was nearly empty. They then took 20 minutes to take our appetizer order. While the food is a passable, it is not close to authentic Brazilian cooking (both my dining companions and I have lived in Brazil). Our entrées took another 30 minutes to arrive once our appetizers were cleared. We had to ask four times for the most basic things like water and bread. We asked several times for our check. While we were waiting for the check--which took another 20 minutes to arrive--the hostess came over to ask us to hurry up so she could seat another party. Once we got the check, we left immediately without comment. I would not go back here.

Amazing food. Great prices. Great atmosphere. I cleaned my plate. Unbelieveable. I will be going back for more very soon! I am glad that my friend moved near by..

Esperanto is one of my all time favorites! However, get there early! I was there this past Friday night. Not only were they out of the specials, they were out of three other entree's on the menu. Don't order the red snapper on the menu otherwise you will leave there hungry! The tuna or salmon is a better choice but they were out along with the skirt steak. After four attempts on ordering and entree, I opted for simply a salad. I would go back, but not for a while and I would get there before 9pm (which is early for NYC). At the very least I thought they could have given me my glass of wine on the house for the inconvenience but they didn't.

Had a wonderful dinner last night. Tuesdays they have live music and by 9:00pm the place was packed but luckily we got there around 7pm and we were seated right away. I will definitely be back thanks Esperanta!

Esperanto has an electric atmosphere with food to accompany. It's great for both a date and for a night with friends and when they open the doors, it's one of the best places in the city to eat outside. The entrees are solid but it's the starters that distinguish it--seafood like the ceviche and the grilled squid and fresh and flavorful. while service can be clunky, the strong drinks make up for it
