    Flawless Delivery

Epices has the fastest delivery ever. The food arrives so hot, you have to wait for it to cool down. And everything we've ordered---the lentils, the lamb tagine, the scallops + shrimp, the bastilla---has been fresh and fantastic. And I'm very picky about what I eat.

    Fresh, flavorful, and different

I've been eating at Epices for years, and I've yet to be disappointed. I particularly enjoy the fresh, unusual salads with homemade dressings (try the Epices' salad!), the daily homemade soups, and the excellent specials. If you are lucky to find it as a special, this place has one of the best coq au vin recipes in town, and there are many out of the ordinary choices to try on the regular menu. Desserts, too, are worthwhile, especially the red fruit "jubilee," the creme brulee with the top finished on the spot, and a delicious berry cake. Service is friendly but not pushy, prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is pleasant, even unique, with little touches like a wall of mirrors. Clearly it's easy to see why it's my favorite neighborhood haunt.

    tunisia on the uws

My husband and I have been enjoying Epice since it opened in 1995. It has consistently fresh, flavorful dishes. You can't skip the Epice salad...split a large. The mussels are wonderfully flavored and great to soak up with the warm whole wheat baguette. The tunisian gemilli is wonderful as is the rigatoni with salmon and broccoli. don't forget the creme brulee for dessert. reservations a must and not kid-friendly...Enjoy!

    Great Neighborhood Restaurant!

This charming restaurant is perfect for a quiet dinner for two - the atmosphere is relaxed and intimate. Regarding the negative reviews below, one doesn't go to a middle eastern restaurant to get pasta - stick to their specialities - their fish & lamb dishes, especially the tagine or couscous ones. The house salad is excellent as well. Everything is perfectly spiced & flavoured, and they have a decent wine list.

    An excellent experience

I took my wife here last night. The entire experience was excellent. Great middle eastern offerings on the menu excellently prepared. When making a reservation earlier in the week, I found the staff extremely helpful up to reccomending the best table. The experience continued when we arrived. Our service was very attentive. Be aware you should reserve. We saw a number of people turned away while we were there. We will be back again soon.

    Skip it

I had dinner at Epice with a friend who chose the restaurant based on the misguiding reviews below. Our experience was unimpressive and for the first time, I feel obligated to write one myself. Though the portions are huge for the price you pay, it's not much use as the food is dissapointing. We both had pasta dishes that were oily yet still bland.

    Not recommended

Went there for dinner last night mainly because the other reviews were good. I have to say we were tricked and had a poor dinner. The baby mozzarella salad was bland to say the best. The pasta entrees where overcooked, tasteless, and way too oily. We couldn't even finish the food. Maybe the other entrees on the menu are better but I recommend you skip this place.
